No. Its one of the great aspects of Celtic that we are open to all be they of whatever religion or none. Its never even crossed my mind to think of Celtic like that.

There is so much wrong with that, but it never gets spoken about enough, at that time as well the media genuinely portrayed it to be a bad thing as well. Genuinely at the time he was being seen as a horrible human being because he crossed himself.

Can't mind if I've posted before, let alone if my opinion would be different a few years later.

But no, we are not a Catholic club.
    We are a football club.

We may have been created by folk who was Catholic, doesn't mean being Catholic has ever been a condition to play or work for us or support us.

Religion doesn't matter at all to being involved with Celtic in as small or big a way as anyone wants to. From the mild folk who simply like the colour of our strips, to players and manager legends who will go down in folk lore. Doesn't matter.

No, religion should not dictate which club people choose to support.

Celtic itself is a religion anyways. We follow and worship it like maniacs.

I find it very odd that people can be so dismissive of Catholics & Catholicism, when this club is owed to those very same things.

I was brought up with no religion - dad came from a Catholic family, not really into football, and mum from a (non-practicing) Protestant one who were all fairly mild Rangers fans (the original one). I chose Celtic as it was a club open to all. There's no way I could support the other side, a club whose fans sing songs of hatred about half of my family.....

    1. You're full of *. 2. I don't know the poster Pearse, but I'd be willing to bet that they didn't pick that username due to Pearse's religion ffs.

    You're trying too hard mate.

No Celtic is not a Catholic club although it is a club proud of its Irish connection. It is a club invariably connected(not exclusively obviously) to the Catholic community in the North of Ireland but that is due to the Irish connection. The Catholic community in the North of course identifying with Irishness. Its a superficial connection then to link Celtic to being a Catholic club.
