Yup. Loved it. Some movies just transport you to a simpler time.

    Turk 182
    Breakfast Club
    Ferris
    Back to the Future

The 80s as I remember them.

Weirdly the other 3 are instant classics but Turk stuck in my mind for some reason.

    Stop Making Sense?

    Movie? Possibly.

Unfair though cause it just wins all the time.

@Sean Daleer yeah, know what you mean. I remember it as a kid, had Turk 182 on VHS a whole bunch of times and thought Timothy Hutton was pretty cool in it and while it has it's flaws I still liked it and would still say it's worth checking out.

But part of the poison pill is because it tanked so spectacularly badly at the box office (made $1.8m on a budget of $15m) it pretty much ruined Hutton as a leading man, as his career never really took off as it was expected to off the back of his Oscar win for Ordinary People, and the likes of TAPs & Falcon and the Snowman.

And yes, Stop Making Sense is agreat concert movie also. Talking Heads ftw.

Yeah it did have a big budget right enough. The Queensboro Bridge scene is etched in my memory.

What we have so far is listed on the previous page. :50:

And to think, even allowing a few sequels sprinkled in, Hollywood was actually capable of making both entertaining and quality movies without an MCU or some such to rely upon... just a * load of cocaine was all that was required. :56:

Yes it has. I nom'd it, along with Ladyhawke, Willow & Legend, while the likes of Dark Crystal, Princess Bride & Neverending Story etc had already been nom'd by others. Growing up in the 80's so many great kids/family fantasy flicks that don't seem to have been anywhere as good - or as many - as there was in the 80's, and tbh it's doubtful that many/any of those movies would even get greenlit nowadays sadly, which is a shame as they are so good and still as watchable now as they were then. The Dark Crystal left such an impression on me as a kid, the Skeksis haunted my dreams, and even me soing an impression of he way they sounded was enough to scare my daughter before she had even seen that for the first time. Love 'em!
