Big mistake Aberdeen letting a winner like Broony go, that guy still has a lot to give on the field. Just highlights why they constantly under perform.

I think it played a big part in it. Between ex players on the coaching staff and the city group connections leading back to Lawwell its very rare to get someone in the door not linked to the club. Dom Mckay was the last which says a lot as well the best guy for the job currently wasn't the best guy for the job a year ago.

remember all the chat about modernizing and * like that when Mckay came in and getting a 'structure' in place what happened with all that ? I know I'm going off in a tangent but it is related in a sense the club is to set in its ways which are now outdated and why we're constantly pumped out of Europe by teams with a much smaller budget than ours

Brilliant for us as a player, but time moves on and things change.

Imo he should learn his trade in the lower divisions and if he proves he,s able for management then we should look at him for a role at Celtic.

Would love to see Brown back here one day but he’s proven absolutely nothing as a coach so far.

Tend to disagree think his influence in and around the place could be massive for us think ange might feel * be too paly with some of the players he's played with but a winner who's been there

Should still be here instead of James McCarthy and Soro. Granted, probably would've needed to step aside as captain.

I can understand people wanting him to learn elsewhere. However I can't think of many better people he could learn from right now than Ange.

Soro was better than Brown last season. Brown slowed everything down and was a big part in our midfield losing battles last season.

I'm not suggesting he would be a starter. Brown used in the way that Soro and McCarthy are being used now would be a much much better option. Still having his presence and experience would be huge.

Brown’s being allowed to leave an Aberdeen side in 10th position in one of the worst leagues we’ve had in years.

But aye, he should still be playing here.

What use would he be, put on with 15 minutes to go to lose a 2 goal lead? Honestly he was * last season, a man down. We were at our best when he wasn't playing. If he was so inspirational why the * of Aberdeen got shift?

Has anyone seriously suggested he come back in as a Celtic player?

Disnae look like it to me. Correctly, obviously. Coaching role? Wouldn’t be adverse to it and neither should anyone be with not a single bit of info on his attributes for such a job.

SCOTT BROWN could be offered an emotional return to Celtic after quitting Aberdeen.

The Hoops legend agreed to a Dons exit with Jim Goodwin after just nine months at Pittodrie.

Brown 36, hasn’t ruled out continuing his playing career but is also weighing up his coaching options.

SunSport understands Celtic would be willing to create a pathway for him in that area — should he want it.

Boss Ange Postecoglou already has a first-team backroom staff of John Kennedy, Stephen McManus and Gavin Strachan.

But there could be an opening for Brown somewhere within the senior academy and B-team set-up — with a view to progressing up the levels.

Celtic are currently advertising for an Under-18s coach to work alongside Stuart McLaren.

Brown may prefer to work at first-team level elsewhere and was recently in the running for the St Mirren job.

The former Scotland captain will have no shortage of playing offers.

But Celtic chiefs would welcome him back with open arms after his 14-year, 22-trophy stint.

He remains close to the Parkhead hierarchy and was told the door would be open for a return when he left last summer.

Dermot Desmond and the Celts board fought hard to keep Brown when Aberdeen made their move.

He opted to end his long Celtic stay and join close pal Stephen Glass at Pittodrie — but has now followed him out the door.

In an emotional statement, Brown said: “I’d like to thank the Aberdeen board and Stephen Glass and his backroom staff for giving me the opportunity to enjoy my first taste of coaching.

“I’d also like to thank all my team-mates and the great staff both at Cormack Park and Pittodrie.

The fans made me feel welcome from day one, so my thanks must also go to them for showing me so much support.”

Dons director of football Steven Gunn said: “Scott’s been an outstanding asset and his contributions, on and off the pitch, have been invaluable.

“I’ve no doubt he will bring the same desire, determination and will-to-win he’s demonstrated throughout his career on this next chapter.”

Not really sure to be honest. Always looked like one of their best players whenever I've seen them but that wouldn't be hard. Certainly seems like there's more to the story than him not being good enough.

I'm not suggesting that he's brought back. I just would rather he was still here than we signed McCarthy. Not so much now, but there were definitely points that he would have been of use earlier in the season.

Also, everybody was * * last season. Again, not suggesting he should be brought back, just wouldn't hold last year against him.

Didn't say playing to be fair. Think his experience is valuable.

To be honest the only thing that makes me regret him leaving is that we then signed James McCarthy. Strangely expensive sideways move that I don't see any upside in.

So he should be here as what then? A cheerleader? Why mention two players if it wasn’t about him playing :giggle1:

McCarthy being here doesn’t mean Brown should have been given a new deal. Bit like Barkas not being good enough doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have moved on from Gordon.

Brown was completely done and holding us back big time. The more worrying part was the club wanting him to stay as a player.
