Daizen Maeda

Criticism is still way over the top. There's plenty to like about Maeda. He's plenty of attributes that others lack. Pace, commitment, already brought goals to the side. He just needs more time

 

Pace? What Pace!? Have not seen much of him using his pace to beat players. We were told Maeda was lightning, don’t even think he is as fast as Martin Boyle.
And on Commitment, he pull’s out of challenges way to often for me. He also seems to never be alert when we steal possession.

Also want to make a point about his finishing. Although he has scored a few for us, he has also missed loads of chances.

Also I don’t even know what his best position is. He doesn’t look like a winger. He hardly ever hugs the touchline like Jota, Forrest and Abada would. Always drifting inside.
Through the middle I am also not sure. He was very poor against Aberdeen.

He will have his time. We have no choice but to give him time as we have a commitment to buy him after the loan. But he has been quite underwhelming so far to say the least. Hope I am wrong and he proves me wrong but at this time I am only able to tell it like I see it

 

He doesn't work as a winger for sure. He's definitely a striker. I'm not saying he'll be our No.1 striker. But some of the goals he's scored were quality. His header against Bodo for example. No reason he can't be a squad striker. And let's be fair, he is quick. He's one of our quickest players. Faster than forrest, rogic, o'reilly, bitton, gioukamakis. He brings something different

 

I agree he is probably more of a striker than a winger but Ange sees him as a winger. He’s played there more often for us and also played there for Yokohama and Japan too which baffles me because watching him it seems like he is playing out of position.

 

He definitely has pace. He's the fastest in the squad according to Taylor.

 

His pace off the ball is quick. On the ball, he's slowed down by his dribbling. I think he makes good runs a lot of the time if I'm honest. I think there's still time for Maeda at Celtic.

 

I'd maybe try him wide right instead of wide left next time he's put on the flanks..

Feel like he would be more useful just running in behind that way or knocking it past his opponent and backing his pace..

I'd rotate him with Abada there as second in line behind Forrest....as well as backup striker..

He looks pish on the left and a bit uncomfortable, plus I've been majorly underwhelmed by him up top..

Early day's but he needs to vastly improve..

 

Been frustrated with him a couple of occasions now, but I think we need to give him (plus Hatate and Ideguchi) time. I don’t think we’ll see the best of them until next season.

 

He has zero composure. I still fancy him to come good though

With Giakoumakis out he needs to step up and perform today.

Been underwhelmed by him so far but hopefully today is the day he really kick starts his time here.

 

He's been a disappointment so far for me but fancy him to score today..

We've got far too much pace and creativity for Hibs..

 

I think he's been OK so far. Needs to get his wee tash back. Gives him an edge

 

Disappointment? Unsure. Hasn't lived up to the hype though, definitely. For £1.7m he's no too bad imo. He has scored more goals per minute than GG but GG offers more to the team.

He's just in the door and has barely played through the middle. I think we haven't been using his pace effectively as we're not built for his style of play.

I hope he gets some space to run into today.

 

Big giak was a disappointment until up to speed aswel. Meada will be fine, just taking a bit to adjust. It never helped he had a stop start beginning aswel with international duty. He'll pick up, not worried at all.

 

Aye just technically for me so far...hasn't looked up to scratch..

I do think he'll improve and be useful. He definitely needs to up it a fair bit as well..

Think its because kyogo was instantly better than anyone could have ever expected its made it harder to impress for the others aswel even when they score there no kyogo.

First touch has been a bit of a lottery so far and link up play has been pretty poor.

When he’s in the team we just need to play to his strengths of getting in behind with his pace and he’ll get the goals I think. (Hard to do though as we play against park the bus every 2nd week)

 

Far too early to judge for me, some folk wanted GG binned after half a season stop start with injuries, now he's settled in and showing what he can offer the team. Not everyone can slot in to a new team and hit the ground running the way Kyogo did.

 

Wee man is bringing * all to the table. Zero intelligence.
