After a shaky start the big man is fit now and is beginning to look like a good striker.

What is his goals to minutes out of interest?

Hate when people lump in sub appearances as counting as an appearance. Misleading.

The biggest thing missing from his game was goals, yesterday he did it.

tbh I don't understand the criticism he was receiving as he was working hard and being a nuisance for defenders. We've been calling out for a striker like that for a long time. He roughed up defenders, adding his movement also pulled tired defenders out of position for others to sneak into.

Realistically he was always going to be behind Kyogo because of how good Kyogo is. That's not his fault and the drop off in quality isn't as mortifying as it is in other areas of the pitch when players are out e.g. left wing.

He is great at stopping the play further up the pitch. This is invaluable when we're seeing out a game. He'll either win us a freekick allowing us out or give away a freekick to stop them breaking again.

I'm chuffed with him and is undoubtedly second choice behind Kyogo. I have still been impressed with Maeda. He's getting into all the right positions, too. However, we haven't really had a game where we can exploit his pace properly. His link up play with Hatate was decent yesterday.

GG should be starting up front in all our important game when Kyogo is out/injured.

Should be starting upfront with Kyogo domestically.

Delighted for him I can't remember the last striker to score a hat trick that woke us the game I remember hat tricks where the scoreline has been 4 or 5 0 that was a massive 3 goals for him yesterday I fancy him to go on a wee run of scoring

Not sure in all comps but in the league it’s 128. Only Kyogo has a better one from what I can see.

Weird player type of guy where it wouldn’t surprise you if he plays like this then goes and has a stinker on Thursday . One thing he’s good at is he’s always able to get a shot off and hits the target more often than not, even if it’s no the best effort

The rule about being booked for taking a shirt off is utterly ridiculous.

Sport is a strange thing...across all of them...for one reason or another, those participating are in such an emotionally heightened state. They bound to get a bit reactionary to hard work paying off.

I also dont get the hate or dislike of him...He has actually been pretty good for us.

Even in the Sevco game he coulda bagged a few as well....was really unlucky.

Think his confidence is right up now, knowing what it means to wear that jersey and that number.

Can see him being a bigger player for us than what some may think.

Very happy for him. I can't say I'm a big fan of some of his earlier carrying on from minor knocks, but he seems to be getting those out of his game.

One thing for certain is that nobody else in the squad plays the big man up front like him. If you need a target man with some physicality and to bring the midfielders into the attack, he is the right man for the job.

I'm being greedy but if there was a way to have Kyogo and Giakoumakis playing off each other through the middle we'd be so destructive domestically.

    But of course...this isn't a game of fifa22 or fm22

He’s a different option to what others in the team offer.

It also looks like he is one who has seen the benefit of Anton McElhone’s work as he now looks in good shape compared to the player who first came in for us. The best way to describe him to me is he is a pest, he will make it uncomfortable to mark him and then look to benefit by getting on the end of things like yesterday with good movement.

I would actually like to see us have a plan B (I know Ange says he doesn’t want one) but a formation similar to how Salzburg play 4-3-1-2, to get the best out of some of our players. Even if it is to help see out games.

Giakoumakis would then play up top with a Maeda or Abada more centrally, have Rogic or Jota as a 10, playmaker and a stronger midfield with Bitton or Ideguchi flanked by McGregor, Hatate/or ORiley.

Not saying we play like this instead of 4-3-3 but where things aren’t going our way or if we have a lead and want to still be a threat but see a game out I think that shape would make us harder to play through.

Last point I wish he had kept his comments to himself these things have a way of coming back to bite you. There’s a long way to go yet.

Great for us and him yesterday…. Hopefully many more goals to come..

…. but I wish he/they would keep the self-praise and confidence (justified or not) under wraps until the job is done.

We/they/he can all big ourselves up to any amount desired at that point. I’ve always found winning convincingly while remaining modest about it to be a far bigger annoyance to the opposition than blowing off about it.
