I will also refer to the PPP measurement as well. (Pints Per Punter)

Much easier to convince the mates to get to the pub early doors for Barca than it is Bodo and thus the average was much lower last night. I myself fell victim to this. A tanked up crowd is a loud one.

After having time to get over last night, i really believe it could be a blessing in disguise. Full focus can go towards the league now after next Thursday (baring a miracle) and i think that could be for the best.

I don't post often - but enjoy reading the chat here - this is a great thread.

Pat Bonner (I think it was Pat) was saying that Bodo Glimt were playing out of the back from their own touchline - and this was creating space in midfield. He was right enough - there were acres sometimes. They looked as though they had studied us and drilled themselves into that process to play it out from deep like that. They still had to do it though. Takes a lot of passing accuracy, touch & speed to do that. Personally, I thought they were an excellent team, excellent coaching. We can learn a lot from that first leg. It will be interesting to see what Ange does now - feels like this is a battle of the coaches as much as it is the players.

Thinking on it the break theve had , they would've spent a lot of there pre season working solely on our game, rather than a few games beforehand

It's not am excuse shouldn't be beat 3-1 at home against anyway , the goal so soon after ours killed the game and maybe the 2nd leg , but Europe is 2nd to the league , the performance in Europe I've been more than happy with considering the total rebuild we've had

They always say a good manager learns from his mistakes and the next leg will be telling if he has learned and first don't play Taylor next week a * weak link .

Do you think the Bodo manager plays good football to entertain the crowd or to win ?

I think the result against Celtic provides us with the answer.

I wish Celtic could beat this Bodø/Glimt team. Unfortunately you will have no chance at the 3G pitch. Could get really ugly if you don't respect them. I cant believe I am saying this though. They have not played a competetive game for ages. And they have lost so many great players. Zinckernagel, Junker, Hauge, Berg, Lode, Bjørkan, Lode, Evjen and Botheim.

As a Rosenborg supporter I just have to acknowledge that they have created an environment that even develops our wreckage into star players. Botheim hardly played a game in Rosenborg. 1 year in Bodø/Glimt and he gets sold on to Krasnodar for about 10m pounds. The same will happen to Solbakken in near future. I am not even sure that the players are THAT good. They just blossom in that collective Kjetil Knudsen are able to produce.

Bodo/Glimt were tactically spot on, cool in possession and quite athletic and we looked quite disjointed. Hard one to take but a bit of a reality check isn't a bad thing at this point of the season - though obviously I'd rather we won and built our confidence.

We didn't look after tha ball and were quite rushed, our pressing wasn't as co-ordinated as it normally is and we left big gaps in the middle. Hopefully when they do the analysis stuff they learn a bit from that game and can make amends with a better performance in Norway.

I just dont see how we can get back into this tie tbh, the fact that they are still in thier pre season and were able to control us like that and look comfortable doing it was very disheartening although I do think we went into the game with the wrong mindset which resulted in us looking very flat similar to the raith rovers game which definitely affected our performance so I know we can play to a much higher level but im not sure it's enough to turn this tie in our favour. On a small artificial surface aswell no less which we tend to struggle on.

To be a bit more positive on your behalf: Legia Warzawa won 3-2 in Bodø in 2021. Bodø Glimt had better players at that point too. Celtic is a better team than Legia W I believe. So there is hope. Luckily the away goal rule is binned. And how will BG approach this game being 3-1 up? Get the first goal and we will see how they react.

They were one of if not the best of the so called “smaller” teams we have faced in Europe in my opinion. It was a very good away European performance from them. So well drilled by a someone who is clearly a very good coach, and clinical when they managed to create chances. They looked to play out from the back and were confident and capable enough to do so. I don’t think we were terrible on Thursday to be honest, I just think we come up against a very well organised team, but also one that can cause problems going forward. They have players in their team that would suit our system. They have a manager who has been there for a few years now and that showed. He has them playing exactly how he wants.

Ange has done extremely well since coming here, and Europe was a total free hit. That hasn’t changed for me. It’s testament to how far Ange has improved us that a lot of us just expected us to go through. Thursday showed Ange is still only at the start of his journey here, whilst Bodo Glimt are a lot further down the line, possibly peaked.

I still think we are in the tie, but it’s going to be a big ask now. I have no complaints about Thursday though. If we do go out, it might be a blessing to be honest, because there is no doubt that the league is a much bigger priority, and the less games and travelling we have, the better.

I think we were just schooled tactically.

It seemed like we started off at our usual pace and it looked like it was going to work. But as soon as they scored we were visibly spooked. I think Ange and the players were shocked at how easy it was for them to play through our press and break the lines. They weren't even attacking that much but when they did they looked dangerous and we looked wobbly almost every time. It was a pretty feeble performance and that was shocking to me. To play excellently in the groups against superior teams and get done like that just doesn't sit well. I'm not sure how Ange got it so wrong on the night.

We really struggle against compact teams - let's be honest we've scraped A LOT of wins domestically this season, so it isn't a new thing. Only this time Bodo had the quality and confidence on the break to do damage. We must learn from this.
