Call me old fashioned but I still believe when a striker scores he's had a good game.

 

We chucked the press early doors after realising that they were very comfortable on the ball and it was going to be too much effort for us.

We were a shambles defending from the front yesterday. Maeda was the only one who pressed. Rogic was so far away, O'Riley wasn't that much closer. Their centre halves and left back dribbled and passed out with ease. Their defenders were stronger and quicker than our attackers and a lot more comfortable on the ball then our defenders.

Just remembered that this guy is only on loan with an option to buy for 2m. I wonder if Ange asked for that set up or what?

I don't see the issue with Maeda so far. He's never going to be our No.1 striker, but that's fine. He's something different. He's got 4 goals so far and he's taken them well. His header last night was a cracker.

If he's only gonna cost us 2m and be a squad player that's fine. The amount of stick he's getting is a bit over the top.

This is what people forget..

We'll see the best of Hatate, Meada, Guchi and even Giakoumakis with a break and a full preseason behind them..

 

Did they not have about 2/3 weeks off before coming to us and 3 weeks or so in winter when they got here? That’s usually as good as we get for a pre-season these days.

I know Kyogo came straight from a game in Japan to us with no break, but I thought the 3 in January had at the very least a month.

 

It’s an obligation to but not an option and it’s £1.3m not £2m

 

For £1.6m, we gave them £800k loan fee already

 

I’m torn with him, I think he is more of an impact sub and will get us more goals that way.

Thought he was on a plane, almost straight after season, in any case he wouldn't have had much restbite..

We need to remember its a totally new culture etc, for them too..

Think we'll definitely see the best of them all next season..

Kyogo has been a phenomenon in terms of hitting the ground running, Hatate too to an extent, but we just need to be a bit patient with them all, I feel..

 

Definitely agree mate. It helps that there’s 4 of them here for settling in, with Kyogo being here for a while before them to help them with it as well.

Hatate started on absolute fire but he’s tailed off a bit, not too much, but that’s ok. Don’t know if it’s because how much energy he puts into the game but he fades very quickly, by about 50 minutes into the game. Think there’s a lot more to come from him.

 

He had a frustrating night (not entirely all of his own doing!), but he kept making himself available and he scored a lovely goal.

I think the criticisms have been way OTT.

 

I do t think people have anything g against the guy ability wise like what people are saying he’s not had break which leads me to selection why was he picked in first place
