Reminds me a lot of him. Not necessarily the worst comparison but not the level we’re needing. Will be fine for being used a squad player for spl matches but no more.

Will score goals, will never be first choice.

If he's gonna play left wing a bit, we probably need another striker.

I think he'll come good. He was hardly brutal and did get a goal. Just matched up badly against a bigger, stronger and organised defence.

I think he took his goal well but didn’t have an amazing game.

It really frustrates me to see him press their keeper and defense and watch them escape it so easily because others weren’t pressing as effectively. It’s something that we really need to improve upon. Rogic and O’Riley let them beat it far too easily.

Funny you mention this, because they're passing out from the back was just so much more collected and organised compared to ours, and that might be the reason why.

Our pressing was a joke tonight. Maeda would go press and the wingers took up the stupidest position marking a space around the edge of the 18 yard line when their full backs were wider and higher so they were already out of the game. They weren’t blocking passing lanes or doing anything, Rogic being pushed on too just took him out the game as he doesn’t have any pace to get back in to a position.

It wasn’t until Giakoumakis came on and Maeda was more central that the press started getting some joy. A really passive performance by far too many of our team. Lacked character a lot of side ways aimless passing and slack passes giving up possession. We lacked any intensity to our play.

Aye we pretty much abandoned the press tonight for some reason, or just made a really half assed attempt.

Maeda always commits to it but lacked any real support today.

Kind of weird watching him press, sometimes he’ll sprint players down and other times he’ll just not bother.

He’s 3rd choice striker just now for me when Kyogo is fit.

Think he does it when he believes he can win the ball, a lot of the time he is close and he’s that quick he’ll have that opportunity more than most. But he’ll need to close down the space inbetween as well.

He’s just here though, Ange will teach him that. Kyogo’s phenomenal at it

    Our press was non existent.

First time I've proper noticed it being as bad. One player was going and the rest were staying.. if even one single player isn't committed to it you're as well not bothering. The whole team has to go.

    * terrible.

Paddy Klimala was never given a proper chance- Ange would have liked having him available. Playing style comparison is spot on, however.

I´m not impressed at all. Far from it TBH.

Great work ethic, but hardly anything else.
His first touch isn´t good enough, and his link-up play isn´t great either.

Early days, yes, but we can´t afford the luxury of hoping he eventually will come good.

Personally still think Giakoumakis and Maeda will improve further.

Dunno why, but they give me more confidence than Klimala, Balde, Bangura, Griffiths (last few years), Cole, Ciftci, Murphy, Dublin, Pukki (but I still loved a party), Scepovic, Brozek, Ajeti and so many other duds we've had in past have given me.

We need to set some realistic expectations in that not every single * signing is going to be Jota or Kyogo. Signings need time to adjust to a new setting, for some a drastic change in culture and also get over language barriers even if there is 3 others with them who speak the same language.

Without Kyogo lately and we are still top of the league with using Maeda and Giakoumakis as our strikers.

As much as last night stung because we still have a level of professional pride and want to see games won, I'd still accept that hurt and disappointment if it means we focus even harder on winning the league in a season where everyone outside celtic written us off.

Don't think we're seeing the real Maeda - something just looks off with him just now - like fatigue/struggling to adapt or whatever. Think Ange knows this and is trying to buck him up by putting faith in him for big games such as last night - but he's miles off it at the moment
