I honestly forget that even though Turnbull didn't seem like he was at the races....he's still involved in 16 goals from 33 games.

That's something we'd want from a striker and he's giving that to us when we were probably at our worst under ange.

Turnbull has a massive part to play and will be in rotation with Hatate in the inverted left centre mid box - box role , he has and should continue to contribute plenty as standard. He will need to work his * off as the standard is higher now than it's ever been in my time. Some will be leaving I think but I don't think Turnbull will be one of them unless he doesn't have the drive to fight for the cause.

We shouldn't write Turnbull off. He has so much he needs to add to his game but if he does you're talking top-tier player.

It's just whether he can do it.

As previously stated, despite having some gaps in his overall game he's contributed massively. That's exactly what a developing talent needs to do. Having other players to rotate will only benefit him.

I know this is just one site/app, but they tend to be well respected and it's interesting when you realise how many goals he's been involved in (16) from playing in a central midfield with Rogic in front, he's still managed 5 motm games in the league (not sure if that's official or by this apps rating) and sits as on average our best player.

Think the toll of last season coming to an end may have affected some views on him, although he certainly has a lot to still learn and develop.

But at 21 and with Rogic, Hatate and McGregor around him, giving him rests when needed (so we don't constantly play him through bad spells as we did ajer) and learning from their styles and vast experience, Turnbull has a brilliant chance to be a top top player for us.

There’s no question having Turnbull back is another boost for us, a goal or assist every other game.

I know he takes the set pieces but we aren’t exactly blessed with players who are good at attacking corners or wide freekicks that are delivered into the box. Starfelt gets on the end of a fair few but his heading ability is almost as bad as Ajer in the opposition box.

I think Turnbull could be a very good option off the bench in a game where we need a goal and he comes on fresh against a tiring defence that may give him that space to get his shot off or make a good pass.

I do think his contract situation is one that if he won’t renew in the summer and we got a good offer it would be worth considering as there are a lot of talent midfielders out there probably better suited to Ange’s system overall. Not sure what fee would could expect, would largely depend on his form to the end of the season.

Would have been a decent option tonight in the second half. The game was passing Hatate by, Turnbull would have been more suited to the type of match that was unfolding.

Would have been an ideal option to bring on just as they took a grip of the game in the second half. Hope he is back soon.

From the sounds of what Ange said the other day maybe we might see him for the second leg of the Bodo tie.

Hate to say it but i really dont rate him at all. To the point that i would want him sold and replaced even as an option.

So you dont want Celtic to always aim to improve? You seriously think that we could not get a better option to have then David Turnbull?

Some players get better when they don’t play as fans forget their flaws etc. Turnbull has gotten worse merely for the fact our midfield has strengthened. There is definitely a place for a player like Turnbull in our squad, without a doubt.

I think now that he has stronger competition than before he got injured, i hope this pushes him on further. He will see it himself in the games played and now back in training what he needs to do. I think he has desires to improve so hopefully thats the case here at Celtic.

As the quality and depth of the squad improves it can only help to encourage and learn from the other players.

Rember Hatate already played a full season in Japan before joining us. And Turnbull played almost every game for us in the first half of the season. Rotating them in the left midfield position will help them both.

    He will DEFINITELY be needed.

As others have said, we need to rotate Hatate.

That being said, and i don't mean this harshly, we are more fluid without him.

But he's gonna be a huge asset going forward. Hes a mad pro, and will look at Hatate as a direct motivation

Before i get slated. Ofc he is needed as it stands now. More then needed.

My point was that we should always be looking on improving and i think that it should not be to difficult in finding a better option for the bench then him. I would start with replacing Soro before him though.

Its not easy to replace 16 goal contributions from a central midfielder, on your bench.

I think people are criminally underrated his contribution.

As good as Hatate and Oriley have been they're still just in the door. Let's not forget that Turnbull has been a mainstay for the past year and one of very few players to bring consistent goals and assists.
