He also didn't like playing on the left, his first 1 or 2 maybe 3 games he played on the left and was erratic then never played there again. If he was to play now he'd probably need to play there again or we'd need to more CCV to the left which wouldn't be ideal.

Starfelt also seems uncomfortable on the left although hes never played on the right I dont think so he maybe just always looks like that.

Think he'll be top class in Ange's system. Assuming he can find fitness then it's great competition there. I'd be keen to let Welsh go on loan to pick up more experience - I do have my doubts about him.

Will be absolutely fine in Ange’s system imo, once he gets up to speed that is. He’s probably the central defender that is most tailor-made for it at the club.

The bigger question for Julien is what he has left in him after a pretty horrendous injury.

Hes 28 now, so if he can get fit again we'd have a CB in his prime.

He has the attributes, just need to hope he can get back to it.

I like him and think he and CCV will be an excellent pairing.

Julien contributes a fair amount of goals too. Probably the best goal-scoring CB since Van Dijk?

So I expect him to improve the team.

That's not to say he doesn't have some weak points. For such a big guy he does seem a bit soft.

When a player has been out for as long as Jullien has it is always a worry will be be able to make it back to his best and only time will tell us what will happen for Jullien. But there is no doubt in my mind if he can make it back 100% he would do really well in Ange's system. I think we will see Jullien make his return next weekend against Raith in the cup but given how long he has been out I don't think we will see much of him on the pitch between now and the end of the season. I think really we are looking at next season at this point before we maybe get to see a fully fit Jullien back on a regular basis.

    I would agree mate.

I think this run in, it would be risky to chop and change what has become a very settled CB pairing.

Any reason he wasn’t on the bench yesterday? Would of been an ideal game to get some mins

Bumps in the road to be expected, be good to see him back though. An actual threat at set pieces in the opposition box would be another string to our bow.

For sure, but I think we need to look at our set up at set pieces too. Far too many players are static, no one making late runs into the box etc. We could definitely improve even with the players we have.

I would think we will see Jullien on the weekend against Raith. Maybe gets to play an hour or so.

Christopher Jullien: Celtic defender's absence explained by Ange Postecoglou
The absence of Christopher Jullien from the Celtic bench for recent games has raised concerns over the centre-back potentially having encountered another setback on his long road back from injury.

However, Ange Postecoglou has revealed Jullien’s failure to appear in the matchday squads for the wins over Rangers and Motherwell over the past eight days was down to selection considerations.

The Frenchman hasn’t featured in Celtic’s senior side since sustaining knee ligament damage colliding with the post during his club’s win over Dunde United on December 30, 2019. Celtic have since signed Carl Starfelt and Cameron Carter-Vickers, who have formed an impressive partnership, while academy graduate Stephen Welsh has also stepped up.

Jullien, 28, seemed on the verge of ending a year on the sidelines when he was named on the bench for the Scottish Cup win away to Alloa three weeks ago. He didn’t get game time, but retained his spot for the subsequent encounters with Hearts and Dundee United, before dropping out. For straightforward reasons, the Celtic manager has explained

Obviously when you are looking at the bench there is no point having too many players from one position in there,” he said as he prepared his squad for the midweek encounter in Aberdeen. “So from our perspective, the bench is there to, hopefully, help us during the game, and for the most part we have attacking players on there. But Chris is training well, he’s fit and available and will get an opportunity. But when that opportunity comes, we’ll see. It’s got to be right and he’ll get an opportunity soon.”

Yes, it was 2020. It's been 13months or something.
