I don't see Ange walking from Celtic, but nor do I see him retiring here. I don't think he's a 10 in a row, or even 5 in a row kind of guy - he wants to create something special and seemingly move onto the next challenge. But like some have suggested, I think his ultimate goal here will be to achieve something in Europe. Provided things continue to go well, I'd guess that he'll be here for around 3-4 years.

I've read a lot of negative comments about the Board here and it seems that they are justified. I think though you have to give the Board credit for taking a punt on Ange when they must have known in the context of last season and missing out on Howe late in the summer break, that going for an unknown like Ange would have not been received well by the fans. The response from the fans was totally understandable so it was a big risk that could have made a dire situation even worse.

And then he does seem to have been backed in the transfer windows, particularly this last one. The thing is though he has not asked the Board to fork out millions. He's been astute enough to get £15m+ players in for a pittance. And he's got them motivated and integrated into the team in a flash. All of that is totally impressive.

I think it would also be fair to say a lot of the recruitment was done out of necessity. We simply had to build a team regardless of who became manager.

I wouldn't give the board credit for the steam off Ange's *, but I suppose they have appointed him and supported him with transfers.

I remember reading some early posts where some people were hoping Ange wouldn't be successful because that would only validate the board's biscuit tin approach etc etc and, as I said at the time, what * chance does he have if even the fans don't want him to succeed?

So it's odd how it's turned out (so far). On the one hand you could certainly say the whole thing has been a biscuit tin approach (given prices paid for players) but on the other hand correct choices have been made again and again, starting with Ange himself and just about all his signings.

So who's right? The board... the fans...

I suspect part of Ange's attraction to the board was his knowledge of high value/low cost players from under-utilised leagues.

You can go back through the hundreds of pages if you want. It was definitely said, by more than a couple, unless I'm mistaking this forum for Kerrydale Street (which was far more toxic about the appointment).

Having seen what he has done in a few months imagine we had brought him in 2020 instead of plodding on with Lennon. I honestly don't think we would have folded the way we did, might now have won the 10 but wouldn't have ended up 25 points behind a * hun team.

I don't believe I saw anyone wish that Ange would fail. I think you're talking nonsense tbh mate.

Actually I'm sure there was one guy, at least, who said he wanted Ange to fail as a lesson to the board or some pish, wish I could remember his name but I remember quite a few people called him out on it.

There's always one lunatic, or a troll, or a hun. No real Celtic fan wants any manager to fail though.

    Greetings, Celtic fans.

I'm not a Celtic supporter but I’m a huge Ange Postecoglou fan and I've been following your club since he was appointed.

I’ve posted a video made in Melbourne in 2013, which some of you may have seen already, others may not .

But it’s worth your while watching for two reasons .- the most spine-tingling rendition on YNWA you're ever likely to hear and a guest appearance very early on by one Angelos Postecoglou.

When he was first named as Celtic manager amid much negativity, I did post on a couple of websites - not this one - telling your fans to stop worrying and enjoy the ride.

From what I've read recently that’s exactly what you're doing.

    Here you go. Enjoy ...

Win the league, eliminate the need for Champions League qualifiers, schedule a Japan and Australia pre season tour and I reckon you'd get 100,000 + Celtic fans doing an even better job of singing YNWA at the MCG! Pity it's such a terrible ground at which to watch football. Would still be a great night though.

I think the Board had NFI what they were getting when they appointed him. More likely CFG suggested him and I think it was Dom who followed him up.

As for the Board supporting him, I think he was * about not getting players and how long the signings took, and made it clear that that was not on, but in his own style blamed himself for not being "clear enough". Him being "clear enough" isn't something I would want to be on the end of.

    McCarthy - free
Maeda - £1.7m obligation at the end of the window
    Jota - potentially £6m
    Hart - £1.1m
    Abada - £3.6m
    CCV - potentially £6m
    GG - £2.25m
    Kyogo - £4.9m
    Starfelt - £4.5m
    Juranovic - £2.7m
    Hatate - £1.4m
    O'Riley - £1.6m
    Ideguchi - £700k
    Scales - £500k

Two windows in a row where the vast, vast majority have been outstanding additions.

I cannot remember the last time we've had a great window, let alone two in a row.

All the praise in the world to Ange and Nicholson. They've both done a terrific job where all players have at least doubled their value in the space of under 9 months. I'm absolutely gobsmacked.

I can only imagine what we'll be able to achieve when we have a proper scouting network up and running.

When I look at that list we have literally robbed teams of those players. I won’t comment on the two loans, but going by what I’ve seen of our players so far I’ll comment on a couple of their values.

Take note I wouldn’t be selling anyone in the summer because I want to give Europe a big shake next year. Players would be smart to also refuse an approach because I think in the summer of ‘23 they’ll be going to top 5 clubs in the top 3 leagues.

Abada £3.6m - now wouldn’t accept an offer below £20m. Top wingers in the premier league are invaluable. There aren’t many and he has the potential to go to the top.

Kyogo £4.9m - wouldn’t accept an offer below £25m. Premier League minimum price for a decent striker and Kyogo would have no problem slotting in down there.

Hatate £1.4m - that performance on Wednesday night announced his arrival to the rest of Europe. Absolutely see this lad playing for a top 3 club in the Premier League or Bundesliga. They won’t be getting him for less than £30m if we play our cards right.

O’Riley £1.6m - English, young and while he’s attractive, the attraction from down south will be about his football. Another I wouldn’t accept anything less than £30m.

Now these sound like big figures, however, I truly believe if we stick together as a team for another 12 months, we will do some major damage in Europe. So with that, those players will attract offers from the biggest clubs in Europe.

We could easily be sitting on £100m+ worth of players, but more importantly to me, we could be seeing the start of a golden era of performances at Celtic.
