Saying Bitton is better than McGregor as a 6 isn't controversial, it's just * stupid.

Didn't a stat pop up earlier saying McGregor has made more passes into the final third than anyone else in the league?

Sofascore is not the best data source, or one id go by.

You’re opinion though suits this thread for sure!

CalMac is much better in the 6 than Biton for me just because of the system we play. He’s so much more mobile, whereas Biton, who has definitely improved, is still so slow or just fails to move and make himself an option. Whenever Taylor has the ball for example, Biton could just move a bit into space and be an option but he stays still or moves away.

On the ball stats, I’m sure SkySports showed today that CalMac has the most passes into the final 3rd for us and he mainly plays the 6. He dribbles well, progresses the ball well and I don’t actually no what he does wrong tbh.

I’d rather have CalMac and Hatate in the same team than Biton plus CalMac or Hatate. I can just see how well they are going to play together long term, we’ll have such a faster, on the break type of game.

You have your opinion on that, my eyes tell me Bitton is a better 6 than CalMac as does the data.
More than slightly better defensively, Bitton makes a lot interceptions and wins back possession much more often than CalMac in that position, also Bitton is on the turn a lot in that role, he does show for the ball as often as possible too.
Still would have pumped them with Bitton imo

Go by any data source you want, I still believe Bitton brings more to the team in that role which I feel the data backs up, you have your own opinion, I have mine

Been proven in the past that we haven't pumped them with Bitton at 6. In fact no pumping of them in the last decade has come with him in the midfield. If anything he's proven to be a liability against them.

Ask any Hun who they'd want holding our midfield him or McGregor and it would definitely not be the latter.

If you believe in data so much why the * were you crying about Shved not playing ahead of Forrest and constantly going on about Dembele?

    Honestly man

Bit of a ridiculous comment considering CalMac was in MF every game during that long winless run against them over the last couple years, but I blame the management for that rather than the player

Bitton played MF in the 5-1 pumping of Sevco in Brendans first game against them, yes they were rancid back then but fact is fact

Forrest was playing poorly and needed competition, we had Shved and Karamoko available who I wanted to see get an opportunity

I don’t believe data would back it up, I guess it depends what stats you’re actually comparing.

They’re both good players who play a completely different game. For me, I’d play CalMac 100% of the time if it’s a choice between them. I just think he offers a lot more that suits our style of play.

Enjoy your opinion, you’re entitled to it, but it’s wrong.

    I agree with this view.

I prefer Cal at the start, and when its tight. I quite enjoy Bitton when the game is more open. Going forward I find him surprisingly good.

I think Bitton has, in the main, been very good this season.

I'd compare passing accuracy, packing stats, tackles/duels, interceptions, aerial duels, possession lost etc

Let's take today as an example

    Accurate passes
    Bitton : 88.9%
    CalMac : 82.7%

    Duels won
    Bitton : 6
    CalMac : 1

    Possession lost
    Bitton : 6
    CalMac : 14

    Interceptions
    Bitton : 1
    CalMac 0

    Aerial Duels won
    Bitton : 1
    CalMac 0

    Tackles
    Bitton : 3
    CalMac 1

Bitton played 48 mins, CalMac played 63 mins

You prefer CalMac in the 6, as many others clearly also do in this thread, I prefer Bitton, that's why I put that opinion in this thread, because I knew not many would agree

But my eyes and the data tells me I'm right.

Bitton came on at 3 nil and game won, Motherwell spent..

Aye let's stick up duals and aerial duals for a guy who's got a double fracture to the face and no wanting to get smashed :giggle1:

The passing stats mean nothing unless you can back it up with the type of passes attempted. For instance, McGregor is far more likely to play forward passes and take risks trying to create, than Bitton is.

You really do have some strange football opinions.

Its not a ridiculous comment at all.

Where was Bitton in those games? Probably not even on the bench.

Mcgregor was in every midfield in every game we pumped them over that entire period and he was there again on Wednesday as captain. And he's our most important player.

    Fact is fact.

Those are called packing stats, I'll find them shortly, they don't show those on sofascore

Where was Rogic in all those games (during the winless run)? That's right, not playing because the club was under diddy management, so that wasn't a good point

Bitton has played twice against Sevco as a 6, both wins, 2-0 and 5-1, bizarrely you said Bitton had never played in a pumping of Sevco from MF, when he had. In the game against them where you called Bitton a liability he was at CB, not his natural position, so that's unfair criticism, would be like being critical of CalMac playing LB against them, wouldn't make sense when it's not his natural position

    Bitton/Ideguchi/Soro/McCarthy competing for 6
    Hatate/CalMac/Turnbull competing for 8
    Rogic/O'Riley competing for 10

That's a healthy MF with great competition
