Not first choice now, but still has a part to play.

He was having a decent season before the injury and made some good contributions, even if he had some poor performances too. He’ll still be a good option for us when he returns from injury.

He'll offer something different from the bench, boy knows how to score, can't be questioned.

Definitely not first choice anymore however.

Another example of the good strength and depth we now have.

Think he'll bloom in that new dynamic as competition and no need to put in so much for full 90mins as he's developing

He'll play a part, but it'll be very difficult for him to get any decent run of games. Barring injuries of course.

Hatate, O'Riley and Rogic ahead of him. Plus McGregor can play there if Bitton or Ideguchi come on.

Awww ffs, have we moved on from Abada and now Turnbull is the whipping boy? :thumbsdow

Turnbull did the heavy lifting of our midfield and played every game until getting injured. What it will do is allow for proper rotation of players, so they can run for a full 90 and still be sharp.

Whoever becomes our favoured pair, will be able to be rotated out and be replaced by first team quality when we have ‘easier’ games. Great position to be in.

He's gonna have to find a whole new level if he wants back in our starting 11. The others just offer so much more.

Competition for places can only ever be a good thing for players and manager.

Work rate wise he's miles off the new boys. Probably now 5th choice for 1 of the 2 number 8s. Hopefully encourages him to up his game

He's 22 and been first choice. He'll get game time for sure. With five subs allowed I'm expecting Hatate Rogic Turnball & O'Riely to all play every game

Nah his work rate is there but he's soooo much slower than the new boys, including in speed of thought. Turnbull for me takes too many touches and turns like a bus. Hatate and O'Riley are a lot sharper imo

Still be a good player for us but he definitely isn't a guaranteed starter and his lack of mobility isn't ideal for our system..

He'll still contribute loads though and will benefit playing next to the likes of Hatate also..

It will be interesting to see how he responds. I think he would play better given the role of Rogic or ORiley but I also think if you rank those three players Turnbull is definitely 3rd in terms of what Ange wants. ORiley is probably the most versatile and could play more in the role Hatate is than both Rogic and Turnbull.

At the end of the day to have got Hatate and ORiley in has transformed our team really we aren’t suddenly McGregor, Turnbull, Rogic and a host of misfit defensive 6’s, Bitton being the exception as he’s really stepped up and proven to be a very capable player again (that’s big praise from me as I would have had him out the door in the summer).

We also have Ideguchi who hopefully isn’t out too long and given Ange’s success rate of landing quality players he may too prove to be a talent if we see the best of him.

Lastly given Turnbull’s contract situation and agent (same as Christie and Armstrong)he is one that if he does impress when he is back may move on in the summer.

I think it's up to him now, which is no bad thing. Either he'll end up being a useful squad player or he'll kick on and find another level. Win win, really.

He brings more goals and assists to the team, not the same pace or energy as Hatate or O’Reilly but his ability at 22 is brilliant. He has plenty more to give and think he’ll suit being rotated in more rather than playing every game.

Decent delivery and shot from distance.

Other than that, I'd struggle to put him in ahead of anyone at present.

Can't tackle, can't header, no pace, and I've said this long before the transfer window. I reckon he's way down the list now.
