I would interpret it as him simply not knowing. I agree it being personal is absolute nonsense, but he offered a prognosis before and it was wrong, so I imagine he just doesn't want to go on record with a timescale. The theory that he's playing his cards close to his chest doesn't really cohere with what we know of the guy. He's pretty straightforward with how he plans to win games, I've never felt unsure about how his teams are going to approach the game.

ANGE POSTECOGLOU hopes his stars are still hurting from their last Old Firm loss and out for revenge.

Celtic impressed for long spells at Ibrox last August, but couldn’t take their chances and Rangers emerged 1-0 winners.

The Hoops have improved and added players since then.

But boss Postecoglou wants his squad to use those feelings of injustice — and what they have learned since — to fuel them going into Wednesday’s Parkhead massive showdown.

He said: “We had some good opportunities at Ibrox, didn’t take them and got punished.

“There’s a good lesson but the important thing is how you respond.

“You can’t dismiss missing chances like that, because if you do and you don’t put them away then you don’t learn

We had a rough start to the season, but what was important was our response.

We rolled our sleeves up to go again and be more resilient as a team and we’ve done that.

“In the last three-and-a-half months we’ve been as consistent as anyone in this league

That’s what you’re looking for. It would be easy to say you’ve played well and it doesn’t hurt much, but then I don’t think you learn aything.

“It’s how you respond and to the players’ credit they have responded the right way.”

Postecoglou, whose Hoops have won 11 of their last 12 and can go top with an Old Firm triumph, has experienced some good-natured rivalry around Glasgow.

But he won’t get caught up in any war of words with rival boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who he famously bumped into in a Glasgow restaurant after the Dutchman’s arrival in the city.

Postecoglou added: “I’m not about too much to get exposed to things, but the interactions I’ve had with supporters of other clubs has been fairly friendly.

“You’re always wary when teenage boys are coming up to you because they are the ones who tend to be bravest!

“But it’s good-natured. Rarely have I not liked people who are passionate about football or things that I’m passionate about.

“I’ve bumped into Gio a couple of times and he’s a nice guy.

He’s very passionate about what he wants to do as a manager and wants success for his club. He knows that I’m the same.”

It’s true. It’s a sad life to sit and demand to know everything.

They will be back when they are back. Us knowing changes nothing. Kyogo could be back on Wednesday, nobody knows and that’s a benefit to us.

It’s a Japanese thing apparently they refuse to confirm medical status of their players. That Dan guy said he was the same when manager of Yokohama

You are desperate to see us back close to full strength, seems like its constantly 1 step forward and 2 back in terms of getting a good team on the park.

I just want to see McGregor, 2 of Rogic/O'Riley/Turnbull/Hatate, Maeda/Abada, Kyogo and Jota playing together.

Japan play tuesday morning and australia plays tuesday afternoon UK time. So both will be back in time for wednesday night however rogic will most likely play 70 plus mins for australia so he will definitely not play against rangers. Whether maeda is involved with japan will depend if his named on the bench.

I'd rather play to our strengths in every case. If that means us supporters being in the dark, so be it.

I'm there to back whoever is on the pitch, not to know the ins and outs of our treatment room.

Mon the injury and transfer secrecies csc

    Mazda; I love it.

Australia's game is a must win, and they are every chance of losing. After his MOTM performance last game, Tommy will be wracking up the minutes one would think.

Haha, I knew auto correct would get me somewhere.

Both Japans and Australia are huge matches for the automatic spots. Japan either loses or draws and a win against oman will see us jump into 2nd with the last round of matches to go March.

Graham Arnold is the manager of the socceroos and its fair to say he isn't the most popular manager we have ever had. No way does tommy not play major minutes in oman. it would be career suicide from arnold if he didnt .

He deserves an insane amount of credit.

When you think about the amount of
games we’ve had to play with a threadbare squad and missing key players, it’s some achievement to have cut the gap to 2 points at this stage of the season.

Bring on Wednesday. Yes we are missing a handful of crucial players but we haven’t let that deter us so far this season. Attack the * and be clinical.

We've remained solid despite mad goings on. Like the start of the season we threw in Starfelt with no pre-season were using Ralston, Murray, Montgomery and Soro etc Hart, Juranovic, Jota and Kyogo all just just went right into the team playing every game after signing back then coming out of isolation also so hadn't even trained much if at all.

We've had no right to be as steady and consistent as we've been. The start of the season, December and January could all have been absolute disasters and probably would have been under most managers. Mixing new players and squad players with players returning from injury, having little to nothing on the bench most of the season, playing without strikers and wingers at times and in general all the injuries.

Squads been on it's * for probably 40% of our games this season yet we've never folded.

Totally, that, implementing and integrating his style of football so quickly and rebuilding the squad to where it is today really has put us in a position that is almost unimaginable only 6 months ago.

There have been a few bumps in the way and definitely not at the finish line yet but all credit to him so far.

Hopefully, if we can win on Wednesday we are actually on a downhill run and the pressure eases on us, as McGregor being out apart, our squad will improve with Jullien, and those on international duty coming back. Not that Ange appears to feel the pressure.

You just know that if we don't get a result on Wednesday people will be calling for his head though

Geniunely think we absolutely pump them if both teams are at full strength. Kyogo and Maeda running at them with Mcgregor, Hatate and Rogic pulling the strings?

Hopefully people remember that, come Wednesday, we'll be missing Mcgregor, Bitton, Ideguchi, Maeda, Kyogo, Rogic and Turnbull. I still think we'll beat them, but to beat them with this current squad would be some doing imo.

Said it the other night but it’s insane the position he’s got us in.

That Hearts penalty miss is about the only thing that’s went our way this season.
