After Taylor and now Bain I wouldn't even be surprised if our board would hand out the next contract extension to Barkas :56:

We cant exactly have a world class keeper or even a brilliant keeper as back up. Doesn't work like that. Perfectly fine for the 5 games a season * be needed for against Forfar in the cup and the like. We have a great number 1, We have Owulayemi as our future potential and Bain as back up. Perfectly fine.

I don't really have a problem with this to be honest.

We need to find someone to succeed Hart and that person will probably be number 2 (I don't know much about him but maybe even the Owulayemi boy).

Bain is a good 3rd choice keeper.

This suggests there is some truth in the backing of young Toby Oluwayemi to be a future number 1 at Celtic after Joe Hart and
keeping a relatively low cost senior back up in Bain around for a few seasons.

I don’t think Bain is good enough so hopefully the change in 2nd choice comes sooner rather than later.

Get oluwayemi out on a full season loan next season and then see where he's at then to challenge hart. No real issues with bain always came across to me as a popular character in the group, should be fine for back up.

We'd be able to sign any keeper in the country if we wanted them..

He wouldn't get in to arguably any side the top flight..

Hibs Macey and Israel number 1
    Sheep Lewis
    St Johnstone Clark

Can't think of the other's off my head but that says a lot..

They’ve literally given him an extra year.

    No issues with that

    Not a problem with this.

    Solid enough spl goalkeeper.

Agree we do need a more promising back up to Joe.

He’s not good enough to be second choice if we have a goalkeeper injury and he comes in could be the case of dropping points

    “Solid enough SPL keeper”
    “Decent back up”

    etc

I don’t see it at all. He’s shocking and wouldn’t start for any team in the league. Only a year though so I won’t get my knickers in a twist.

At best he's a number three keeper we need someone who can push Hart and keep him on his toes .

Pointless and kicks the can down the street.

He's not good enough as a starter for us, and isn't going to add anything as backup. I'm times of need, he will not be a great option to fall on to.

At a club like us, who should be developing talent, we should be signing 20-24 year old keepers as a back up to Joe Hart - a former international number one.
In the view that signing a 21 year old keeper from a smaller/similar sized club, would see them develop under Hart and ready to take over on two years time (if not sooner).

Extending Bain, just delays and hampers that development further.

We now face Hart and Bain leaving at the same time, with no real prospect wiating to take over as a number one.

Baffling. He's by no means a solid back up. Whenever he plays he's good for half a dozen heart in mouth moments.

You dont really want a prospect as number 2. You want a prospect out on loan ideally. Which we can still do

We want a prospect one step up from needing to be loaned out though.

Any prospect we loan out, then still needs to come in to this squad and prove himself again.

Ideally we have a young 20 year old who actively plays cup games and the "lesser" sides with confidence and is built up to take over.

For me, Bain is a block in the path of that development.

He done us a good turn as backup once upon a time, with a view he could have stepped up to be our number one. But he's shown plenty since, that he isn't at that level
