Aye, I guess we're not a Chelsea, probably no way we're paying £4m+ for a player that isn't making an immediate impact..

Think we may regret it but timing not right..

Aye we don't have the finances and luxury of hoarding quality player's for millions and punting them on loan for year's..

If we didn't have Juranovic and Tony hadn't arrived on the scene, you'd like to think we would've been at the table though..

I do rate him that highly. Athletic. Big. Strong. Attacking. Superb technically on the ball and with set pieces. He's an 18 year old right back who takes all their corners and freekicks....which is mental..

Would love him here. Definitely wrong timing..

Really like the look of him.

We can't turn our nose up to these players.

Gutted we missed out on Hickey now. Add him to the Mcginn pile.

It's been a jam-packed window so far for Celtic and Ange Postecoglou.

Yosuke Ideguchi, Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda and Johnny Kenny have all joined the ranks at Celtic Park with Riley McGree set to follow.

But with the squad still hampered by injuries, there is little doubt that the Australian will look to add more new faces.

The squad need strength in depth across the park if they are to make up the six-point gap at the top of the table and battle Rangers for the title when the winter break comes to an end.

The club certainly aren't short of targets and Record Sport runs the rule over the current state of play with the league restart around the corner.

Celtic were credited with an interest in the Derby left-back last summer, and reports in England suggest a fresh bid to land Buchanan is incoming.

The Derby Telegraph claim that the Parkhead side, West Ham, Watford, Nottingham Forest and Cercle Brugge are all hoping to sign the 20-year-old.

He has six months remaining on his contract, but The Rams have an option to extend the deal.

Boss Wayne Rooney has played down any potential exits from Pride Park, stating: "We are in administration, we know that, and we know there are vultures out there trying to take our players for peanuts, and that will certainly not happen."

Algerian playmaker Ferhat, previously linked with rivals Rangers, emerged as a rumoured target last week.

The 28-year-old appears desperate to leave Nimes after their relegation from the top flight last season and has just six months left on his deal.

He has refused to train with the Ligue 2 side and reports in France suggest Saint-Etienne are now leading the chase.

But Foot Mercato report the clubs are yet to agree a fee for a January transfer

Ghayedi, who can play as a left winger or second striker, only joined UAE Pro League club Shabab Al Ahli on a five-year deal in August 2021.

However, Iranian outlet Tasnim News report Celtic are "determined" to land the 23-year-old this month

They have now stated that Ghayedi's agent has emphasised that "the player is happy at Shabab Al Ahli and has no intention of leaving this club."

    Callum Styles
Reports in England have claimed the Parkhead side are monitoring the status of the Championship defender in the January window.

But Barnsley have remained keen to keep the versatile 21-year-old on their books for the relegation scrap.

The Athletic note that Burnley could be planning to step up their interest in the young defender this month to test The Tykes' resolve.

Hope there is some substance to the Buchanan rumours even if its just to prove we are targeting LB.

    Surely hinges on Boli leaving.

Looks like Middlesbrough have counter offered at the eleventh hour for Riley McGree..up to 5mil pounds now, plus ad ons. That high energy, high press midfielder type, Connor Metcalf 22 years of age, City group player. He is the same as McGree, what's the difference? Except less pounds to pay. No need to get into a bidding process.

Still a worry that we are unable to shift our basket of deadwood, if we could start shipping some of them out, surly it would give Ange the ammo to go after and secure the rest of his targets. Our bloated squad has about 10 or 12 that should be shifted to release wages and maybe even rake in a few million for the rebuild.

Its ok saying shift him on and loan him out etc etc.

But realistically, the interest has to be there.

Nobody * wants bolingoli. No one * wants Barkas (especially not for the money we would be looking to recoup).

The only option is to slash their prices. Cut the loss, and let it be a lesson learned by the * board to PROPERLY scout players before throwing millions after them.

Still absolutely baffled at the incompetence from us that we can lose out McGinn, Hickey etc for relative peanuts, yet pish 5m up against the wall for * like Barkas.

Especially when it comes to domestic players who we KNOW, for a FACT, can do a job. Yet sign pish like Barkas and Giamoukakis for millions based on * youtube videos.

As stated, we should really be looking at Ramsey.
Obviously the price would be driven up as its a domestic transfer to a "rival" club, but far more of a safe bet than turfing more money after some continental yahoo whose club want shot off.

It was gross negligence to let McGinn slip through our fingers. It was a ready made captain level replacement for Brown for peanuts really, the cherry on top was he was a tim too. Its hard for people to accept but no wonder Rodgers jumped when the opportunity arose.

McGinn would have followed him down to England at the first opportunity. Especially if he ended up with Lennon as his manager again

Make of this what you will, but Graham Arnold, Socceroos gaffer these days was talking * recently about Ange abandoning the team before the World cup 2018, when Ange infact made sure they qualified first, then there was the issue with the Australian football board of directors at the time-absolute backward * including one guy from a Cricket and Rugby League background. Ange had to stand by his principles with regard to the issues at hand.

Anyway point is, Riley McGree only just dipped his toe into the international arena, no real track record yet as a rusted on Socceroo. He will be a future Socceroos captain I feel, SO, he is probably playing his cards right in order to eventually get selected for this World Cup campaign, whereby 'Arnie' is the gaffer as I've previously stated.
Given that, I would be surprised if he didn't go to Boro especially now with the higher offer. I wonder how close he came realistically. If he ends up signing with the Hoops, well, he is really backing himself, a ballsy move indeed. 2mil more on a transfer fee shouldn't be the be all for a quality player because a quality player will back himself, either Riley isn't backing himself or it is the politics of making the Socceroos in this international cycle.
There are other options out there that's for sure.

On interest, there is interest in Barkas, I believe the issue is whether he wants to go. I suspect he will be away even on loan by the end of the window. Boli I am not as sure about, possibly a loan again or someone may take him late in the window. Soro does have interest, Ajeti’s agent is working on options for him as I think everyone knows it’s not working there but he is injured.

On signing guys McGinn, I know from a family member Villa offered him an insane wage for a championship player multiples of what we offered to sign him. There is no doubt the Petrie Lawwell thing played a part in negotiating a fee but the reality when both had bids accepted was Villa we’re paying way more to McGinn with a guaranteed rise if they got promoted.

Hickey it seemed to be about playing time that was the issue also Hearts didn’t want to sell to us. The boys now flying in Serie A so his choice is vindicated. The issues more how we let Hickey go in the first place and we should have took a punt on McGinn when he went to Hibs from St Mirren as a Brown understudy.

On Ramsay I think he is a cracking prospect and would love to sign him. I don’t see us doing it because we have Juranovic and Ralston. It’s a pity he isn’t a left back.

Metcalfe nowhere near McGree, at this point. Good player on his day but not consistent enough yet. Not good enough for Celtic.

Don't be so sure. In some quarters he is thought of as probably better.

I’d take Riley 100 times out of 100. If anyone is rating Metcalf over McGree, I’d like to know what they’re smoking.

In respects to Riley having to worry about politics between Ange and Arnie, think it’s a non story. Arnie may or may not like Ange, but that’s not going to effect whether Riley gets chosen for Australia.

Talking of Aberdeen players the player who I think could do a job for us in midfield is Ryan hedges who gets a few goals and plenty of assists in midfield .
