You most definitely can for friendlies; dk about competitive games, but at the very least, it’s been well seen that players have ‘picked up injuries’ and then gone on to play for their clubs. I think it was Ryan Fraser who did it with Scotland not long ago. Arsenal seemed to make Tierney do it too, if memory serves.
Accusations have been made just today against Watford for an ‘injury’ to Sarr ahead of Afcon, so it can definitely be done.

The ‘losing the dressing room’ argument is of course a fair point (which you must have seen me bring up before you did, in the post you replied to), but still, it’s legit to feel like we should be man-managing our way out of that.
It’s one of the most pivotal games of our season. Downright neglect if the manager isn’t trying his best to get everyone available. However, maybe he is, and as others have said, perhaps Ange’s comments were a ruse in front of the media.

Just guessing, but wouldn't it be to line up with the club season? I know the J-League runs alongside the calendar year. Maybe a few other major Asian leagues do too?

Fifa should really have designated international breaks so it doesn't * up all football leagues in Europe.

You mean kind of like how back in the day the old huns national team players used to pick up a remarkable number of injuries before internationals but make amazing recoveries to allow them play at the weekend for deadco. Hmmm.

They’re too busy trying to double the number of world cups so they can pay themselves more money.

Anyone else think that him getting his own choices, on longer term deals, is indicative that he/the board are happy he's here for a long haul? Gotta be honest, if he managed the progression he has even for this year and next we'd be in a * good space...

I agree; silly Asian countries need to understand football revolves around Europe.

International breaks should be aligned across leagues and confederations i.e. WC qualifiers should be played at the same time around the globe in alignment with breaks in leagues worldwide.

Asian football really does get screwed around from this. Just look at Ange, apparently his qualifications aren't sufficient and even though he got an exemption I believe he still has to either re-apply after 12mth for another exemption or get his Euro badges because his Australian/Asian ones apparently are not recognised in Europe.

Finally, some in Asia get that starting a football league a century behind others and creating their own international schedule that doesn't match up is an extremely thick idea.

    Completely agree.

Everyone should be aligned. The Scandinavian leagues run through from spring to winter and they still manage to adhere to the European international schedule.

The likes of you need to adjust your attitude, football does not revolve around Europe.

Basically there isn't enough international breaks left in the calendar to get through the required world cup qualifers before the cut off date. This is due to covid, as asia didnt play any world cup qualifers until June 2021 from the final international break of 2019. This was due to various lockdown/quarantine rules in asian countries. For example australia played something like 4 home games in qatar before our last home game and china hasnt played at home game since covid. They also don't play three games in the international break unlike europe did to catch up games due to covid because the break doesn't last long enough when you factor in the distances needed to travel between countries and rest time for that travel.

    So Asia is too big.

    I've always thought that.

The * are too busy organizing a World Cup every two years, so don't have time to do the basics of their work, like coordinating international game windows. It's pathetic.
