I think getting him would be right up there with the Japanese signings as he is that good

 

This youth team coach taking charge gives me a bit of fear he might be getting in his ear about sticking around.

Think he managed him for their B team and Jorge Jesus being criticised for not bringing on youth. Bit of a concern hearing that because he was regarded as one of their biggest prospects and the fans might want to now see him get an opportunity.

 

The thing is they’d need to proper commit to him. We’ll be offering a decent contract and clearly a place as a key player in our team - a team that has already won a trophy under the new boss, is receiving further investment and beginning to look really good.

Are Benfica prepared to match that? If Jota has any sense it would take far more than just being offered a chance. At the end of the day if he goes back there next year and has a stinker in the first couple of games then all of a sudden he’s back to square 1.

 

We've missed him so much in this team. He takes us up another level.

We need Jota, Kyogo and Rogic all in the same team together for a prolonged period of time. We didn't really have that in the first half of the season.

If Maeda and Hatate live up to the hype we'll have some attacking arsenal. Need everyone fit though.

If we get these lads both signed permanently, it's excellent business. I'll just keep my fingers crossed. I've had concerns it wasn't going to happen with Jota, as I think he'll have so many options.

 

I think CCV is a safe pair of hands at the back and one where we've thrown millions of pounds over the years and not really had a great defence to show for it.

We know what we're getting with CCV and it's easy to spend his fee on more dross at the back, as we have proven before time and again.

Jota is genuinely class. He is a game changer for us. He is one of the best players at the club and has an extremely high ceiling. £6.5m is buttons for him.

£6m to make triple that in a years time minimum is a no brainer so I'm not surprised the board are pushing the boat out. Injuries permitting it's as much of a safe bet as you can get ability wise to recoup the cash from a future sale

 

Apparently communications have been constant between Celtic and Benfica ever since the summer. The player was given permission to go home for Christmas with his family, as the club had been given promises by Benfica that they’d continue his treatment while he was over there.

Personally I think that’s good management from the club, all the more so if it’s true that he cleared out his apartment while over there

 

Man, every time the Jota thread gets bumped I’m going to be getting heart flutters
