    you'll never walk alone
listen all the people who think that i am jumping on his back because of a pass back are wrong, look back at previous posts.
by the way i was at the TWO motherwell games and i have to say he was utter * in both.
no way did he win us the title, someone show me a bit of magic he did, like a goal scoring pass, or even getting within 50 yards of the opposite goal without giving away a free kick.
i never liked him, i didnt want celtic to sign him in the first place, so giruy

I dont think for a minute the guy is scared, he's just not good enough.

We are in a position now, after two years in the last 16 and 3 in a row, of real strength. Surely we have to aim higher now and try and kick on, are Hartley and Robson gonna take us there? With all the will in the world, of course they're * not.

We NEED to aim higher, now is the time to do it, from a position of strength. Hartley isnt going to run the show in san siro, old trafford or the bernabeau. Thats where we need to be aiming and if we dont strengthen, thats where we will be found out again, just like the embarassment of the nou camp this year.

    he probably is granted.

but hartley is a total *, how many bad passes did he play today ?

he runs like a kirk broadfoot after he's just been shagged by a 12 incher.

he's too slow physically and mentally, and hes getting a bit too old to be a first team starter, sno should probably be getting a chance at least.

thats a very clever observation and I think you are right. Otherwise why did he move from being a buzzbomb box to box player who was still outplaying our CM almost everytime we played Hearts. I think he is as good a DM as we will get. I will admit I am dissapointed that Hearts got his best yearsas a box to box player because he was absolutley superb for Hearts for 3 years. If only we had bought him 5 years ago. Never understood why we didnt just got he Hearts and offer 2-2.5 million for him then because he woudl have been worth every penny.

have you not seen him playing for the international team against the best sides in Europe. He was immense for Scotland as DM last season.

The guy makes one mistake in a pointless friendly and is chastised? * sake. He was one of the best, most versatile players last season. Get behind the team!

I think he looked tired tonight. He reminds me of Lambo. He is not a player who is going to have good legs till he is 34. I rate Hartley but I think even last season you could see he needs the odd couple of games rest every couple of months but I dont see that as a problem. Now Donati...theres a player who is not going to cut it at Celtic. I actually think JJ was a better player now but they both had similar flaws.

In my opinion there are far worse players than Hartley at Celtic park, I thought he had a good end to the season and was one of the main reasons we won the league,
I'm not saying he is a fantastic player but give the guy a break he can only play where the manager tells him to and lets not forget his header against Spartak, how vital did that turn out to be!!!!
I may be mistaken but i'm sure he played in an advanced roll that night and in the end his goal was vital in getting us into the champions league.
I Don't think this thread would have been started that night do you?

Nothing to do with one mistake the guy is not good enough to play there its that simple hes not a dmc , He's a attacking mid hence why he scored so many for Hearts , he hasnt the legs to play dmc , He hasnt the skill either , We need some one top class in there doing that role ,

As i said above he makes too many stupid fouls on edge of box by diving in or pushing and is punnished ,

Tonight may only be a pre season game but we are weeks ahead of spurs and should have put a much better show on tonight , We have looked * poor pre season and cant even do the simple stuff right like defend , new left back centre back , and dmc needed ,

yep. This site is getting such a doze of people living in fanstasy football land thinking the whole team is crap and we should be signing six 10 million quid players. Where is this coming from. Celtic never (other than MON's first year) have been big spenders buying household names. I personally think its amazing we have got to two last 16 given the lack of money compared to several of the teams we beat (spartak, Shaktar etc). As the bunnet used to say some here need a 'reality check'.

am talking about us in most of our group games-France home and away, Italy home, Ukraine home etc. We played very defensively but we did it very well. Hartley was very important in that campaign.

To be honest I'd agree Danny I'd like to see Scott Brown come more into his game next season and take Hartley's place.

Just because you couldn't care less about the Scottish National Team doesnt change how he performed for them. France were * in the Euros but wasnt that well over a year after that performance, France were just out of the World Cup and had reached the final. You are very quick to dismiss something just because it defeats your arguement.

it was less than a year ago for a start and they weren't just out the world cup. how hartley performs for scotland is completely irrelevant to me anyway.
My argument was that we signed him from the wee huns because he was a very dangerous attacking midfielder who scored a barrow load of goals. What is the point of playing him in a position he's less effective at and that other guys can play better?

how is performance for the wee huns important too you but not Scotland performances?
Scotland performances have been more recent than the hearts performances...
