He has a mistake in him but our defence will be a lot more solid with him in it. Really hope he can get back to full fitness, would be a massive boost.

Christopher Jullien is ready to return from a full year of misery.

And boss Ange Postecoglou reckons the comeback of the £7 million defender will be like having a new signing.

The Frenchman hasn’t featured for the first-team in exactly 12 months after sustaining a serious knee injury against Dundee United.

Jullien underwent surgery and has been through a lengthy period of rehabilitation which has kept him sidelined for all of Postecoglou’s tenure.

But, as the boss hunts the transfer markets for new recruits, he’s feels like he’s already adding a fresh face to his ranks after revealing the 28-year-old is on the brink of joining the group for full training.

Postecoglou said: “He’s had a couple of little setbacks, but we are hoping now that he’s at a point where he’s ready to train fully with the team and make himself available.

He’ll be a great addition, he’ll be like a new signing for us and we are looking forward to having him back.

Definitely. He’s a good player, he’s very commanding, he’s very confident in himself.

“So we will get him involved and I’m sure he can add to us.”

Jullien’s return will be a big boost to the manager and offer competition to Cameron Carter-Vickers, Carl Starfelt and Stephen Welsh in the central defensive unit.

He does have a hiccup in him but Jullien at his best is a good partner for Carter-Vickers..

When it was Jullien and Ajer (who I massively rated), they could both be physically done the odd time. Carter-Vickers won't be bullied and then you have that massive goal threat in the box for set pieces again and able to defend our box well from them..

His passing with both feet is very underrated as well and he likes to get forward when we're needing a goal, even from open play..

    Big game player for us..

Great time to get up to speed as well with the break..

With the 3 week break, I wonder of he'll be on the bench come our next game.

    Here's hoping.

Genuinely think when he’s on form he’s a better cb than Carter vickers. He was a beast for us when he was fully fit. Was a bit ropey/rusty when he came back from his first knock with us. Hopefully he stays fit and gets back to his best

It will be great to have him back, we've missed his solidity at the back and his threat in the box.

Will be good , but there's no way he will be back to best without game time , has to be gradually brought in , talking like I'm sort ange , but you get the drift.

Perfect game for him would be the Scottish cup tie against Alloa and maybe on the bench and give him the last half hour .

That is exactly what I was thinking hopefully he is on the bench and gets some time on the 17th against Hibernian and goes from there till he is fully match sharp and ready to start. As others have said he has a mistake in him but we have massively missed him. He ticks the box of our biggest weakness in terms of height and ability in the air in both boxes as well as been a pretty good passer of the ball out of the back.

I was hoping off the bench against Hibernian and then maybe let him start against Alloa and maybe play an hour in that game.

finally a threat from corners again!
get injuries back and full metal to the pump - must win game coming up, time to apply some pressure and take the title back.
maeda looks a done deal so things are looking up - apart from raith it was a good christmas spell considering.

Think that be madness to even play him against Hibs as he won't be up to speed and we have seen what the pace of Boyle can do especially against the zombies .

We cant expect too much to soon from him, hes going to be rusty as * and it will take him a good while to get used to anges system. Hopefully once hes up to speed he can replace starfelt in the starting line up who's beginning to look dodgy again.
Jullien and CCV on paper atleast could be a great defensive partnership.

Jullien has been upping his level slowly at training with the team since about September. I feel he will be quite ready when he sits on the pine in a couple of weeks. He won't be too vulnerable.
