Arsenal play in the premier league and have a * ton more money than Celtic.

We are not spending 6 million on a 16/18 year old player who maybe turn into something great.

That’s absolutely not going to happen.

Fair play to Ange getting us to this point - club in an absolute state, squad in an absolute state, the Board basically working against our footballing interests for all intents and purposes, and yet here we are, one trophy in the bag and still in touching distance of the Sevconians.

Ange has been a revelation for me. I genuinely thought at one stage he wouldn't make Xmas yet here we are with a cup in the bag, European football post Xmas, within touching distance of der hun and a new icon in Kyogo. I have really high hopes for the second half of the season.

Ange Postecoglou is refusing to take a winter break as he presses straight on to the next stage of his Celtic reign.

The Parkhead boss admits his first six months in the job have been a blur.

But Postecoglou is adamant he will not give himself a rest as he pushes forward with January recruitment plans.

Celtic now have 20 days until they play again, yet the boss is incessant.

Sealing deals for key transfer targets such as J-League duo Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda is crucial as he plots the second half of the term.

Postecoglou said: “No breaks. We keep cracking on. There is plenty to do.

We’ve been working on it for a while, knowing that we needed to strengthen the squad during January.

This gives us a chance, with no games, to push along with that. Hopefully we get some good news in the New Year and bring some reinforcements in.”

Players will get some respite in the coming days, but Postecoglou also believes the break in games helps training plans and will offer vital Lennoxtown time to hone methods.

He added: “It’s kind of been game-recovery for quite a while now.

“It’s going to be a crucial time for us and for the players. Just to be able to work with the players and work on our game and keep pushing and helping our game.

Postecoglou has barely had a moment to draw breath since walking into the club from Japanese outfit Yokohama F. Marinos to take charge in the summer.

But he’s not interested in taking any time to switch off as he said: “Nah. I had a nice (Christmas) morning with my family.

“I’ve got some young ones who were causing chaos with their gifts from Father Christmas and that was great.

“But look, I love what I do. I don’t need to switch off. It’s fine

I’ve really enjoyed the first six months, as challenging as it has been. I’ve enjoyed every minute of it and I know there are massive challenges ahead so I’m looking forward to that.

“I’ve got plenty of energy. We’ll have plenty of time to switch off mate when I’m old and grey.

Postecoglou has had to deal with almost everything since he arrived. Overhaul of almost an entire squad, massive injury problems, adapting to a new league, European ties and the Covid pandemic has also thrown up issues for clubs across the country.

Time has whirled past for the Celtic boss as he said: “It’s been hectic, for sure

From the moment I arrived. I don’t think there has been any sort of time when we’ve been able to relax.

“We’ve just had different challenges every week. At the beginning, it was throwing guys together, getting players in. We’ve had injuries, we’ve had all sorts.

The schedule has been really tough. All along, we’ve been consistent and I’ve been consistent about not making excuses or allowances for the players.

“I’ve just said to them: Let’s just show our character through all these things and they’ve been great. I’ve enjoyed it immensely. It’s been quick, for sure,

“It’s been a bit of a blur, but I’m loving every minute of it and I’m looking forward to the challenges of the new year.

This is the most important part of the interview for me.

There’s still so much more to come from this team and Ange. He’s never managed at a club where the games come so thick and fast, so he’s not had 4-6 days a week where he can get the players working on the system and honing finer skills, like he would have in his previous appointments.

This winter break is so important for winning the league.

I haven’t really followed Sevco but have they had the horror injury run and depleted squad that we’ve endured. Every club goes on a run of good and bad luck. Let’s see how they cope when the * hits the fan for them.

Ange was also in a band. George Thorogood and the destroyers. Not many people know this.

Actually he was playing games on a regular basis and with a short turn around in his final year with Yokohama Marinos.. Covid had disrupted games but the JFF insisted that the season finish on time, so when games resumed they were being crammed in and games were being played very close to each other for the remainder of the season.

They are both meaning in terms of being able to get time to develop and train the players to Ange style of play.

In your example of the COVID situation at Marino's, he had already done that in previous years. Of course it would have meant not being able to work more with them, as opposed to just game preparation.
But the point I think both Ange and Craig here are making, is that he's not even managed the initial stage of honing the style with the players. Let alone taking in to consideration the pandemic.

Not sure if Ange will follow through with getting Idegushi from Japan.

From what I have been reading he has had serious issues in the past with posterior cruciate ligament injuries.
