Well it’s 5pm Christmas Eve here in Oz. The financial controller and I have been cooking and cleaning all day and now it’s time to sit down and sink a few frothies.
I just want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas to yourselves and your family. Stay safe and enjoy your break.
In this weird time of Covid, restrictions, working from home, * * home schooling, one of my places of solace has been this forum.
Yes, there might be a bit of banter between us Aussies and you good folk, but it’s all (mostly) in good spirit.
So thank you for giving me a place to distract me from all the other bullshit that’s been going on.
My A League team is up to * this year and my NRL team underachieved, again. Celtic has already given me a trophy and it’s great to follow a club that actually wins things lol.

Folk are definitely going overboard saying we lost the league on Wednesday night. Looking at the schedule after the break and it's no exaggeration to say the league will hinge on our form after the break. Home and away to Hibs, away to Hearts, away to Aberdeen, away to Motherwell, home to Utd, and of course home to Sevco. Almost every game in Jan/Feb will be against top 6 opposition, plenty of difficult games. So crucial to make this a good transfer window. Ideally needs to be the best transfer window in recent memory to really put us in a strong position for this league.

 

^ that being said, looking at our games in March - Livi, Ross County, St Mirren - can't help but think we stand more chance of dropping points in those games the way things have been going

I honestly think it is time for Ange to refine his approach against the low block. Say what you like but the approach has now failed four times.

I't seems to me that keeping possession and cycling it around allows the block time to move into and entrench its position.

Time to look at how other teams deal with it and adapt. I also agree that there is work to be done on set pieces - in both defence and attack.

Here's looking forward to Boxing Day and another opportunity to adjust and get it right. Merry Christmas all!

Think we are going to have to sacrifice possession and pitch position at times
Against st midden we really needed them to come out a bit and then hit them when they’re higher up the park

 

If Mikey plays again I want him dribbling into the box to make him a target for a rash challenge and win a penalty in the second half to have us ahead in the game. Abada also. Players have to be brave if we are to score against such packed defences. Also pepper the goal with shots, will get a handball or even a deflected shot into the net.

We need to play smart.

Plenty of good young players in the lower leagues in Brazil.

Arsenal signed young Martinelli from Ituano FC for 6 mill - the guy is banging them in for the Gunners at present. A hot property and full of aggressive forward movement.
