Your last line is the key here for me. It does seem pretty clear already that this new variant is highly transmissible and probably more so then any other version of covid to date. What is not clear though is it more dangerous and will it lead to very high numbers in ICU's and deaths. As I mentioned previous it seems that when case numbers shoot up then hospitalizations, ICU numbers and deaths shoot up about 2 weeks later so we will know come early January whether that is indeed the case with this variant. Then decisions would have to be made as to what to do. But right now while early signs are suggesting it may not be as virulent a strain we don't know for sure so the most sensible thing to do would be to call the winter break up early and by early January we should be able to say with much more certainty how things look. If it turns out that this strain is indeed not as virulent then maybe you could even slot in a round of games in the midweek before the restart was supposed to end but no question the winter break should be brought forward now it is what makes sense from a fans standpoint as well as the financial health of the clubs standpoint and the integrity of the games standpoint.

 

Don't see the logic behind Ross County. It's not going to help them on the field or off it. Two of the three games would be in the Highlands...

 

There's a difference between keeping someone out because he bears a higher risk for the health for his fellow men than keeping someone out because of his skin colour, ethnicity or religion. If you can't differentiate that and really think that from imposing a rule for health safety to persecute Jews is a small step, you've lost every common sense.

Who are the problem? Vaccinated can pass the virus onto others and some even have to get to the hospital, yes, but they aren't the one's filling up the intensive care ward.

Thats a fair point. I assume you meant this strain been highly transmissible rather than "so virulent". Hopefully it is indeed not as virulent because if it is and it is as highly virulent as it is transmissible then we are all in deep *.

I also don’t understand why you can have 500 in a 2000 capacity stadium but no more in a 65000 capacity stadium but also indoors if seated you can have 200 but only 100 if standing…again surely the size of the arena/stadium should be the contributing factor in how many are allowed to attend

 

Largely because it's Christmas and doing that will make them both unpopular and less likely to be listened to. It would be logical though, not that logic makes much difference to these things.

Being unpopular doesn't really matter but being less likely to be listened to has consequences that are unpredictable. Personally I blame them for taking this long, but obviously in a minority.

They would probably prefer to do exactly that, but fear there would be riots (or that people would ignore it) if they effectively cancelled Christmas this close to it.
