that did not happen at all.

Ange was announced and many enthusiastic and excited Aussies joined the forum but clashed with depressed Scotsmen who after a terrible previous season were expecting Howe to come but got an unknown Postecoglou instead.

the emotional state of the Aussies and Scotsmen were on opposite end of the spectrum, hence the clashes.

only people to blame were all the unwelcoming Scottish people who are to depressed to allow some people to have excitedness that their man got a big gig at Celtic.

I've always felt he was too stubborn and inflexible but at the same time wondered what he could do if he was ever given the resources and players to implement his vision.

That's not to say he's got that at Celtic. Yet.

I didn't think he'd last the year and through no fault of his own, as by Christ did the players do their level best to lose games early on. Edouard's miss must haunt Ange. And may still yet haunt him at the end of the season

Which makes the results that have followed even more remarkable.

Not all Celtic fans are Scottish, just shows how little the Aussies know about Celtic which sort of justifies the hostility.

    Typical arrogant Australian.

Maybe try acting like your brothers from New Zealand.

I never said all Celtic fans are Scottish, I am specifically (and very obviously) talking about people in this forum, which is overwhelmingly Scottish.

I even said in my post "forum".

What point are you trying to make except that you have comprehension issues? Biggest strawman argument ever.

Nope, a lot of the posts that got backlash were the ones that were pretty much saying we should have blind faith and not be skeptic so because Ange is amazing etc. For me that was what * me off, we have every right to be skeptical his names was plucked from nowhere and we knew * all and to us a bit of success is australia and Japan doesn’t equate to success here, lots of good managers have come to Scotland and failed.

That's your own experience and reaction, but that was certainly not everybody elses.

It is COMPLETELY a lie and deceiving to claim that Ange was not being hammered in here by some users even before the Aussie contingent came in here.

The clueless Aussies were vindicated, the depressed Scotsmen have been humbled.

    Surely you wouldn't deny that?

Seriously guys, come on. Give it a break. Some of the stuff that was dished out when Ange joined was more than a bit condesceending to some of the new members who joined in good faith, and I for one think it is good to be able to expand the fanbase and having more members joining on here, and playing an active role in the discussions.

Ange may've been second choice but he has made more than a few on here, in the pubs and in the media eat their share of humble pie as there was a fair bit of ignorance that was being splashed about - not just on here but everywhere.

Anyhow, all this is doing is drudging up stuff that was buried months ago, so let's move on, and just enjoy what we are getting with Angeball, which is infinitely more than I suspect Eddie Howe would ever have been able to offer.

The thing with the Aussies and what they’ll never understand is that the majority of Celtic supporters are emotionally tied to Celtic because it isn’t a team we chose to support (like our new found Aussie friends/fans) but was part of our lives before we even exited the womb
We are totally unlike any other team esp your Chelsea’s manures citehs etc (sevco will be the same as us) because we are born Celtic fans and didn’t have a choice of which team to support unlike the Aussies, so it’s not just a game of football to us but forms a big part of our lives

In fairness I still don't think we'll win the champions League and still don't think a pre season friendly that he lost is any form of accomplishment I was also told I'm not a Celtic supporter as I don't particularly support the Scotland national team so there was a few roasters that signed up as well but there was a few level headed people signed up as well.

Always get a few * in a bunch of roses and all that patter

I very much know this was not your intention, but your post can be interpreted as condescending as it suggests that Aussies do not know what its like to be emotionally attached to a club like. It's as if we don't have our own football, rugby or aussie rules clubs back at home that we attached too.

We all know that we are nowhere near as emotionally attached to Celtic as you lot, but we understand what an attachment to a club feels like.

I truly think the majority of issues at the beginning came because Aussies were so enthusiastic and excited for Ange at Celtic at a time when those who are emotionally invested in the club were still in the midst of a catastrophe and the problems from last season, with the latest problem being that the many months long expectation for Howe went up in smoke and then a complete unknown came in.

    Vindicated in what way
Anges tactics led to a defeat at ibrox, away to betis and there’s been some other dubious decisions he’s made
Winning a league cup doesnt vindicate him
He needs to beat the Huns first for vindication and then show us that he has instilled a ‘we won’t be beaten’ attitude on the pitch, which to be fair that is looking more likely following the Ross county game and going 1 down in the final

    No it wasn’t meant
But as attached as we are (not all but a vast majority including those that travel every week from other countries to support us) and emotionally involved, to have long distance, new to the club friends/fans come on and try and educate us on matters Celtic was always going to rile some people
Anyways let’s hope ange keeps progressing us as a club and continues to try and play football the Celtic way (and that’s not just a throwaway comment as there is proof that the Celtic way changed the way football was played…jeez we killed cattenacio in 1 game that the rest of football couldn’t beat) because although we may have games were we get beat, Celtic fans will still always put up with that if it shows we are moving forward and playing exciting thrilling football
