Curiosity got the better of me guys and I dipped my toes in here just to see what electronic dance music actually was and jumped right back out again. Not my cup of tea but I suppose I'm just too auld to appreciate it. I know it would be hard but, if there was one song everyone could say was a really good example of this type of music for someone who hasn't a clue about it, which one would youse all agree on?

Oft that’s a * great question for this thread mate, will get back to you, everyone will have their own favourite track and the importance behind it on what it means to them/story behind it etc. Absolutely brilliant question. :giggle1::50:

Just to add onto that though, the rave scene changed my life massively. There’s lots of things that go with the rave scene (for some people) the drugs etc, but for me luckily i for the most part had a great time on the drugs dancing my late teens and early twenties away. Wouldn’t change it for the world man. I was also lucky that i never had any major problems staying away from drugs like cocaine/ecstasy/ketamine when i got older, basically when the dancing stopped/after parties etc i moved on and grew up. However i know a good few who didn’t sadly. Best way i could describe the scene though is basically completely open to everyone. Black/white/Hispanic/Asian/homosexual even catholic or Protestant in Glasgow it just didn’t matter, we were all dancing to the same tune.

The first “rave song” I ever remember listening to. I say me but I was 14 with a ghetto blaster and used to sit at the back of the top deck of the bus letting the rest of the bus listen as well.

The rabbit hole has been found. I’ve poked my head in and it looks ominous.

Let’s start light. Wee bit of trance to start :fear:

I’m not going to lie mate that’s disappointing. I thought with your avatar you might be a kindred spirit.

That was me breaking you in gently as well.

I’m now going straight to the madness. THis is on you :giggle1:

I met Lenny Dee at Rez 3. What a lovely gentleman he was. You wouldn’t think he was capable of such angry music he was such a sweetie.

Never judge a book by their BPM.

It spawned some tremendous remixes too. I’ll always have a special place in my heart for the original though.

It's funny how certain types of music can bring people together no mater their background etc. I can remember being in a pub in London and was getting some heavy digs about being Scottish from some evil looking big feckers and was about to leave when my name was called for m to sing on the karaoke. I got up and sang an old Bowie song and two of the big guys came straight over to me and I genuinely thought I was going to get beat up however, they shook my hand, bought me a beer and said that they were right into Bowie.

Was trying to think of one that had world appeal and that you might know. This one would be known as classic old Skool. It would fall under the genre of ‘Gospel House.’ Obviously with reference to * and joyfully singing his praises. Usually associated with New York House Music scene of the late 80s.

I mind you one hundred percent saying you would never ever, at no point, rather die first, before you would listen to electronic music or hip hop.

Strangely you keep opening the threads to inform us of these things.

Starting to think you aren’t being completely honest with us.

Yeh, I've heard some of the old tunes being re-mixed and played on the radio. My daughters always have the George Bowie experience on when I'm in their cars and, although some of the stuff is not my cuppa tea (or can or Red Bull), some of it is really good and would certainly get me moving on the dancefloor
