I love him..

We looked so much more threatening when he was on..

His ability to go by a man, face up and confuse them in the box is class..

Unlucky hitting the post and could've scored from the cross from Abada. Put 2 or 3 good ball's in as well..

I particularly enjoyed his pressing and chasing every loose ball..

Serious baller..

 

Sharp as a tack when he came on again. So unlucky not to score but if we can keep him fit he'll be massive for us.

 

Huge huge potential.

I'm feeling naturally cautious given his injury history but he's looked very sharp since returning. Unlucky to not score today. Can't wait to see him fully fit and on form as he'll be a great asset.

 

Never really been convinced by him but he ripped them apart when he came on. Looks stronger, hopefully he continues.

 

So unlucky hitting the post, would’ve been an outrageous goal.

I’ve said it before, I thought he was vastly overrated by a large section of our fans.

Then with all the injuries just racking up, it seemed the boy wasn’t even getting a chance to change my mind.

He has been, over the last few games absolutely brilliant when he’s came on. If he can stay fit and pick up the style of play Ange is implementing? Well, it will be like a new signing. Really happy with the way things are all over the pitch at the moment. Play seems to be coming along well, players are starting to settle after tough starts, like Starfelt and players coming back in are adding a good bit of competition to the squad. With Jamesy and Mikey, our wings are looking hella strong.

 

Good to see him get a good solid half hour today and as you say he was excellent and a constant threat. Probably still on the bench on Wednesday but clearly is ready to start having a real impact in games which is massive for the team as he is a quality player no question.

 

First youth player I've really wanted to succeed as much as this lad, had his injury problems but the talent on the boys something else. The way were playing will suit a player like him. Really hope he can push on and give it a fair cracking.

Totally agree. The way Ange has us playing really fits well with Johnson. If he can stay fit the rest of the season he can be not just a massive player for us but someone that excites us all and is a joy to watch play.

 

I'm mre confident that he will stay fit now with his added bulk on his legs, what a player we have if he can get a good run together

 

I know this is a massive, massive if, but all he needs to do is stay fit and he'll become a special player, has all the talent in the world.

 

I recall watching him play in a youth cup final, where say our U19 struggled in the Glasgow cup final but our under 21’s dominated them a week later in the Scottish youth cup final. Mikey was one of the only differences in the team but he totally ran the show almost playing like a 10.

He just looked levels above anything else on the park. He definitely has the ability and I have heard the work ethic to be a top player just needs to stay fit and take his chances when they come along.

He would be playing on Wednesday for me.

 

Hes crediting the new sports scientist for helping him with his injury issues

 

MIKEY JOHNSTON made his Celtic debut four years ago under Brendan Rodgers.

Since then, the 22-year-old has been in and out of the team having endured a torrid time with injury.

This has without doubt hampered his development, with his talent clear for all to see.

Having spent the best part of a year on the sidelines, the attacker admits he was worried about becoming a forgotten man at the club he loves.

But having made a few cameo appearances off the bench against Motherwell and St Johnstone, the Hoops ace is determined to make his mark under Ange Postecoglou.





He said: “Obviously, being a Celtic fan, if supporters don’t like you then it can get to you a bit.

“But, it doesn’t matter too much because the manager’s the one who picks the team and I’m back from injury and he’s putting me on.

He obviously wants to see me out there and that gives me confidence as well.

“Brendan Rodgers gave me my debut a few years ago, probably four or five years ago and it’s been stop start ever since.


“But hopefully I can get a run of games now and keep myself fit. It’s only been a few weeks.

“If I can manage that then it’s going to be so much better for me.

“I want to see Celtic doing well and all these players are coming in and doing well. I’m happy for them.

“But obviously I want to be the one who’s doing well too. Everyone has a bit of selfishness about them.

“That’s my dream, to play for Celtic, and hopefully I can keep doing it.”

Johnston paid gave a nod to the club’s new head of sports science Anton McElhone, who arrived last month after a spell as Morton boss last season.

The former Tottenham backroom staff member was Postecoglou’s first appointment to his own team at Parkhead having inherited the coaches already at the club.

And Johnston revealed McElhone has been great in helping him regain his fitness and recovery work.

He added: “I’m feeling good. The new sports scientist has come in and helped me a lot.


“I’ve needed a bit more time to get myself back up to speed and also to make sure I don’t pick up any more injuries. It’s been good and I’ve been working hard.

“I think in the past it’s been sort of hard for players when they’ve needed to come back for players. But the international week kind of came at a good time for me.

“I was able to get a lot of good fitness work in.

“I was able to put in some strength work that I wouldn’t necessarily just get from training.

“Obviously I’ve had to try and live a bit like a monk recently so I’m not getting any muscle injuries.

“A player like me is going to be a bit more susceptible to those kind of injuries because I’m a bit quicker.”

Johnston was asked if he had to turn to a sports psychologist during the tough period so early in his career.

But he immediately dismissed that notion, insisting some of the senior players in the dressing room have shown tremendous support - along with his family.

He said: “No, I haven’t. But it can be difficult due to the amount of spells I’ve had out. Mentally it can take a toll.

“But I’ve come back and I’ve got confidence from senior players like Joe Hart. They’ve helped me a lot.

“I’ve come back from long spells and I’ve still been doing alright.

“I’m starting to get a bit more belief in myself again.”

* that the first thing he mentions getting to him is when the support don't like him. Our fanbase really are wanks at time's..
