This is true but not to the extent it takes us. We’ve had other clubs comment and our own manager comment on it. After McKay left there was an article that came out about how confusing we were to deal with in the transfer market and how we fail to get back to teams and contradict ourselves. They do take time, just not to the extent that we take it.

Yes I remember that but our summer window is not evidence Lawwell is still some sort of puppet master lurking in the shadows.

I think one of the things that is getting lost in the debate at the moment is the change of tactics from the domestic teams we play who are now all adopting a low block or park the bus approach.

Ange needs to adapt here. There are a few ways to exploit a low block. One way is to play wide and cross with two or three in the box. We haven't done this well. When we have tried to cross from wide it has usually been one up top. Ajeti is pushing * uphill here and it is honestly not his fault.

Another way is to play three at the back and use the extra numbers to your advantage in this first build up phase. This would also mean the cbs always have a spare man to pass to in the back line. What we are seeing at the moment is that the two cbs end up getting pressed right back into all sorts of bad situations. It looks really bad to see the likes of Dundee put us under so much pressure this way.

So, Ange has to change tactics to counter the block better in my opinion . Who knows if he will?

Absolutely not mate, I do think he still has a lot of influence and he’s still at us on our books. How that relates to day to day won’t be anywhere near what people try and make out but

It was reported that he was still a director at the club as he needs to have formal links to a club to maintain his position on the board of the European Club Association. You keep burying your head though if you don’t think he is involved. The club is rotten to the core.

They used to do that, most of them now do a very high press against us because we struggle to play out from the back and rigidly stick to playing out from the back.

Anybody trying to defend the board and the way we conduct ourselves when trying to get deals over the line must be at the wind up. It’s a disgrace the length of time it takes us to do our business, with both players and managers.

That is a possibility. I would like to think that someone earning more than a £1m a year and taking in huge bonuses would be more than just a puppet however.

100% agree but people to overboard sometimes, and people usually hit back with overboard opinions to counteract it. Truth is it’s a balance inbetween, and that’s still not good enough.

Might have been making it work and successful despite cackhandedness from above him, and that’s why he was worth it?

He was unable to keep the clubs turnover in line with inflation, but his wage continued to rise as we fell behind on the European stage. I would say that is unsuccessful to be honest mate. Domestically his success is somewhat skewed due to the level of competition we faced for a lot of that time, and in the end, he left us finishing absolutely miles behind the huns after having the biggest advantage over them in history, whilst turning us into European whipping boys. I would imagine he will have had the final say on transfers and choosing Lennon.

He also steered us through two of the biggest disasters in living memory successfully, in the 2008 recession and Pandemic. While winning trophies and competing in CL, getting through to the last 16 three times in his tenure.

His stay had run it’s course and he frustrated * out of me, but I wonder what sort of interference he was dealing with from Desmond. It’s the ‘I imagine’ part there I’m getting at, we don’t know. Personally I’m with you on it but I’ve got a slight fear he was keeping Desmond in line for all these years….

I don’t think people do go over the top in regards to transfers. We are a shambles in all honesty, and it leaves us chasing our tail come Champions League qualifiers, and also the league this year. The level of incompetence we have seen over the past year is absolutely astonishing.

I’ve seen people on here he was intentionally sabotaging the club from within mate and a lot of other lunacy. Like he’s resigned last season just to lurk in the shadows controlling everything, just without the financial compensation this time…

There was still the same problems back then when Strachan had us doing brilliant in Europe as well. You only have to look at the January transfer window in 2009. We had a 7 point advantage over the huns, and instead of building on it, we didn’t go out and bring in a forward, and ended up signing Will Flood, and went on to throw away the league. Lawwell did oversee some brilliant times, but we didn’t press on during that time, which sums his tenure up in my opinion.

Based on the last 12 months, it’s hard to find an argument to counter someone suggesting it was intentional. That’s how ridiculous we have been run. I don’t think it is the case mind you.
