His Yokohama side had an awful defensive record. It was * before he joined them you say but still * when he left.

    I don't know what you're talking about.

Up until the point he left this J-league season, their defensive record was 0.88.

And it's not what "I say" (implying its my opinion), it's what the cold hard stats show.

It was crap. I've looked at it previously. Was regularly one of the worst in the league. Even when he won the league they conceded the most goals in the top 6.

I'll try dig out my old post.

I seen teams with hardly any quality do that over longer periods. Defense is not only about quality, but about organisation. That is how weaker teams can upset stronger teams.

In his first season I'm sure he had the 2nd worst defence in the league

Was it. From where I was looking it was a very poor defensive record all in.

    2nd worst first season.
Worst in the top 6 season they won it.
And I'm sure it was rotten in his final season.

its fanboy stuff anyway. With games against 90% of the SPL quality we wont concede as they dont have the quality. But in the games that matter we are always found out cause of our defense. I am sure at the end of the season thE stats will look okay. But it just doesnt tell the full story anyway.

Your “stats” are of no relevance here. He is the manager of CELTIC. Only stats that matter right now are the stats he’s accumulating at CELTIC.

How many goals have we shipped in Europe so far this season? How many goals have we shipped so far domestically this season?

Answer that, if you can manage to close down your “ange *” window…

We will definitely concede goals playing his way, the turnover from attack to defence can leave us wide open at times and we will be punished frequently..

For me an intelligent defensive minded DM is essential. Hopefully McCarthy can provide that protection but in any case it should be a Jan priority.

We will definitely surprise a few with our intensity and attacking intent though which is exciting, whether that translates into results time will tell and time is something you don't get much of when managing us..

Yes mate, his attacking intent is admirable, and very exciting to watch at times, but this calamitous defensive line cannot be ignored any longer.

We’ve already had this in the past under Tommy Burns, and while it was exceptional, it resulted in nothing but a Scottish Cup in x amount of years (granted there was mitigating circumstances ie cheating huns, cheating sfa etc).

No point in having a * Lamborghini that goes like the clappers if it’s leaking oil oot it’s *…

It's a must win on Sunday even though we have injury worries and more dropped points away from home domestically and the whispers will start .

Found the stat for his last season just there so he had the 4th worst defence in the league that season. The 3 worse than him were sitting in the bottom 4 of an 18 team league.

    1st season...2nd worst defence.
Title winning season....worst defence in the top 6.
    Final season.....4th worst defence.

Like Ange but to say he improved their defence doesn't tell the full story. They were still * in defence.

It’s a bad situation true, but he always makes the sub he just makes it after the horse has bolted.

It’s like he waits for it.

Soro was a red card waiting to happen. mcCarthy should have been brought on after about 35mins, or at the very latest half time.

Ange actually kept Soro on till about 50odd mins before bringing McCarthy on - terrible decision.

He had players on the bench that are quick enough runners, at the very least maybe Uroghide could have came on, but no.

Soro needed subbed after 25mins. Hard call to make but was obvious at the same time. I don't think we concede that first goal if Soro was off.

If we take it right back I think Soro starting was probably the wrong call. McCarthy for 60mins then Soro late in the game was what I was expecting.

He should have taken Soro off earlier yes.. But did Soro get sent off? no

EDIT: Not sure why McCarthy cant go a full 90 though?

First goal - We had plenty of numbers back, with several camped on our own 18 yard line.

Second goal - Carter Vickers makes a baffling decision to gamble on the offside rather than go with his runner, and Ralston fails to track his who taps it in.

Third goal - You can argue that structurally we looked exposed for this one. Even still, Soro tries to ‘block’ the cross from about 10 yards away, Starfelt loses his man who scores.

Fourth goal - Juanmi hits it through a crowd of about eight *.

You can only really look at the third goal in terms of how we set up. To suggest that it’s the managers system to blame any time we concede a goal is lazy.

He needs to be more pragmatic at times and he needs to learn that very quickly.
Had we went 2 nil down who thinks we would have got a draw far less win cause I don't.
At 2 nil up with 15 mins to go til half time, away in Europe, you stop piling everyone forward.
You can do that at home to Dundee etc but not in Europe.
