Don't know if mentioned but Mo Besic is 28 and out of contract. Isn't the top drawer and is he injury prone? Think he could do a job sitting..

We never seem to bring any out of contracts in after the window shuts? I think it's an avenue we should definitely be looking at for a centre mid at least..

 

Fernando that played for Spartak Moscow is a free agent. Was worth £12m off 4 years ago and still only 29. Defensive midfielder

Looked completely out of his depth at Palace then went to Koln and looked even worse. He was seen as the next big thing in Germany when he was a kid but has never shown anything really to justify it at a senior level.

Similar to Holtby who I think Meyer replaced when he went to Spurs.

 

The Russian/Turkish transfer windows are still open I think? If that's the case I'm hoping we can still punt Bolingoli.

If we do, I'd be bringing in that Milad Mohammadi, solves our LB issues and we were linked to him prior.

 

Don't know if its been mentioned in previous posts or not but Victor Nelsson the Danish International CB who was superb against us went to Galatasaray for £6m surely we should be all over these types.

I saw that, there is some add ons in the deal I think that could take it up a few million but there have been some amount of good value deals out there probably due to the Covid impact.

Matthew Hoppe for £2.75m to Majorca.

Abdallah Sima quoted at £30m last year went for £7.2m to Brighton then loaned to Stoke, he would have been some signing.

Gyrano Kerk just over £5m to Lokomotiv Moscow.

Mario Vuskovic £900k for two year loan to Hamburg.

Mitchell Van Bergen £2m to Reims.

Just a few amongst some of the good deals that seem to have been done.

 

Yeah that’s definitely one we should have been keeping an eye on, especially after getting to see him first hand when they knocked us out the EL.

 

That Maeda bhoy at Ange old team looks quality. Would love if we managed to get him in January.

Looks as if he’s comfortable in any of the attacking positions.

Possibly why we went for a loan at LW for now instead of looking for a permanent. (Hopefully)

 

Duje Ćaleta-Car for January. The president of Marseille wanted to get rid of him to that he could let the manager buy a striker, but the player refused all deals. If things continue, another Croatian international could be available cheaply in the next window.

 

He’s a cracking player but has recently turned down Liverpool and West Ham, so can’t imagine we would be at the races?

 

Not now, but in a few months, his value might drop. He refuted rumors that his wife stopped the transfer to EPL. But an article claims the head of Marseille is really angry with him for blocking the deal. There's talk of him being dumped to the reserve team.

 

This always baffled me too... Folk would go on about loads of great players released or available and they'd finish up getting snapped up all over the continent, but it's like we'd just sit on our arses after all the 'hard work' of the window and ignore them...

Seriously, save about £3-4M on a transfer and you can offer someone an extra £20kpw over a 2 year deal, and a signing fee if required and still save some money

 

I'd say it's extremely likely mate..

He had like 40 in 40 when he was 18/19 in Estonia. Guys like that are penny’s would be worth a punt to see if you can develop.

 

Came across this analysis of the first half of the J League season which is a long but interesting read. Maeda again stands out as a good fit from this but a few others in there.

A guy who looks a quality player with his contract expiring is Lazar Tufegdzic.
Playing in Serbia with a lesser team but looks very capable in the 10 or any of the front 3 positions. Scores and creates regularly.

 

A couple of guys from MLS that could be worth a look for the January window

For left back George Bello at Atlanta looks like his deal is up at the end of the year, he is an athletic attacking full back, a good 1 v 1 defender with good recovery pace. Going forward he has the ability to go past players and link up with the forwards. He also is comfortable on the ball coming inside. He is only 19 (20 in January) so has a potential high sell on as well.

Cole Bassett only 20 and has already had a spell training with Arsenal a couple of years back but still at Colorado Rapids he is predominantly an attacking midfielder but has also played as a deeper playmaker as well. Probably not exactly the type of midfielder we need but has a high level of potential.

 

Anyone know anything of Loris Benito ? Swiss left back without a club. Played for Benfica and Young Boys in the past.

If rumours of Bolingoli are true, we need someone in.

 

He was in Switzerland's squad for the Euros but only played 6min. Haven't followed him for a while and don't know how much he has deteriorated. Already 29 but I guess still much better than Taylor.

But I have to say he always came across as an arrogant * when he just turned professional. Saw him a few times in the city back then
