This is a brilliant synopsis of where we're at. Like I said earlier on, the Huns have a plan that works against us, but after only a few weeks we show massive improvement over last year; and that's without our players getting to full fitness for the style we need to play, the new guys bedding in and potentially a couple more new faces in.

Yesterday was a sour one to take, but I mentioned to my mate that maybe we needed the splash of cold water in the face to reaffirm what was, is and needs to be. A lot of people seemed to think we'd reached the Promised Land of 6-0 Eve y game and beautiful flowing football for 90min every game. After 2 * months from new guy taking over from the biggest abortion our club has probably ever handed over to a new guy...

Look, I'm not saying carte blanche, no questions asked, traitorous to point fingers, but we do need to seriously temper our expectations until at least Christmas and the next transfer window. I think we can still win this league, of course, but it's gonna be a graft and it's gonna require more than we will feel comfortable with to do it. We need pragmatism and vision of the bigger picture here.

Second paragraph is bang on. I was getting a bit concerned at how many of our fans seemed to think we were gonna coast is yesterday. I thought maybe it was just me being naturally pessimistic but I think it is clear we still have a fair way to go.

The refreshing thing is, I think most of our fans realise this. Which says it all.

Under Rodgers we skudded them regularly by large scorelines and that proved the massive gap at the time, theyve only done that to us once, really, last season and the fourth goal was added in stoppage time. Even if we didnt win by 4 or 5, we would normally just completely dominate a 90 mins. Im not seeing that from them.

Yesterday was a really poor game for both sides, won by a set piece header. Aye, we were brutal second half, but * me I didn't see anything from them to make me think we still cant seriously challenge for the title. It is just going to take some tempering of expectations here and there, for some, as you say.

All I wanted from Postecoglou this season was for him to improve the side, close the 'gap' and actually challenge them. Which we will.

Football is a fickle sport and by next week they could easily have been beaten by St Johnstone or whatever and we are back at square one. They weren't confident going into that game, which shows progress on our side, aside from anything else!

Aye wee bit of a 'reality check' yesterday, but we're certainly on the right road.

I had no real expectation of winning the League this year, but I think there's enough to suggest we'll be better than we were last season and Rangers won't be as good as they were last season. There are a lot of positives to take from the first few months and we're heading in the right direction etc.

Important that we get a few players out and a few in before the window shuts, but also really important that we're working hard in the background getting plans in place for the January transfer window.

Just gutted I have to wait 2 weeks for the next Celtic game now. Feel like we can really come back strongly from this.

They have a token tim in big Packie Bonner on BBC Sportsound and a couple of soup takers on Radio Clyde who would be as well being huns however, that's about it.

To be honest, due to our tactic being so altered from the St. Mirren game, I don't know what the real gap is. We never tried to bravely run down Balogun's side.

Talksport letting on * Celtic fans basically begging Rangers fans in for the next game, * that.

Unless these hun * want to retract their decision then * it. They all want huns in now seeing as they beat us.

    * better not let those * in.

I've calmed down a wee bit from yesterday(although still a bit raging) and thought about the game yesterday. As we all know, we desperately require a CH, LB a CF who can actually win a ball in the air, a box to box midfielder and a natural left winger. If we get them then fine, if we don't then we will continue to struggle against the huns and some of the other teams in the league. Whilst there are definite signs of improvement, we definitely need to get the type of players in who have the bottle to play in a derby game such as a Sutton, Hartson, Thomson etc. The huns are always up for the fight and are always in your face and, once again, we had too many players not giving their all and basically hiding in the face of battle yesterday.

Yes.I also believe Juranovic is versatile enough to also play in defensive mid-field holding position when/if needed , as well as fullback. He looks a very good buy for the club.

Kyogo should have been switched to the middle at half time, or at the very latest after 10 mins of the second half. How Ange didn't see that/do that is baffling, hopefully that kind of choice/decision doesn't go on to become normal as that would be a worry.

I would agree with you. We also gave them too much respect, Edouard should have been on the left and Kyogo in the middle.
Abada is a good player but young also and new to such big games. He is a skillful player and quick but had a quiet game and did not get much service on the right side seeing we played mostly down the left side.
Abada would not be the first young winger to be monstered by an experienced and unshaven fullback threatening to break his legs if he attempts to go past him. Muscat comes to mind.

    Good point regarding bottle,
Yesterdays game was pretty calm compared to past games, they can deal with their own team, but we need to start showing a bit more passion and desire on the pitch(wanting it more).

We need to be in their faces and let them know we ready to die for the cause,id start with Mc Gregor imo hes no captain he doesnt have that presence about him like Brown had(huns hated brown and what he brought to our team)i would actually consider Hart as captain(not a popular opinion i know)hes vocal and while not a great keeper he does command his area and i think he gets his massage across to players.

Not in a million years. Right wing- maybe. People at his former club in Croatia say he should've been a wide midfielder.

That’s all well and good if it was an even contest going into the game.

They had a substantial amount of players out with Covid and had their manager lying in his bed.

For me, losing in those circumstances paints a very grim picture.

Brother, Juranovic is going to be 1 of the crucial part of our team for quite some time. His ability and attitude are what we need back at Celtic Park. It'll take him probably 1 or 2 more games, playing on His side and we'll see how good this guy is.

    "Substantial".

They had 2 players missing from the first XI. That isn't substantial.

Did you honestly believe looking at their starting XI it wouldn't be a contest?:giggle1:
