Absolutely bizarre that he’s not got one of his own staff members in. Crazy actually, that he’s not got his own guy who he trusts and can turn to when required.

Being saying that for months now need a muscular midfield player who can dominate the middle of the park I have seen the young player we signed from Watford in the B team maybe give him a go against the smaller teams and see how it goes .

It might be strange to hear but I never really expected us to win this game, in fact it went quite how I expected it to go (check my posts in the pre- match thread to confirm) but before and after this game I still expect us to run away with this league.

Sometimes you just get that feeling and I think we are about to rip this league up, by the time they come to us I expect us to tear strips off them. Not wanting to blow my own trumpet but the last time I had this feeling we were 10 points behind and we went on to win the league and I won a fairly healthy wager from a gutted hun. There was even some wild predictions in there about Samaras that came to pass.

Anyway keep the faith and I'm sure we will be in for a fantastic season and amazing summer 2022 HH :ynwacelti:ange:

I don't know why we need to find singular reasons for yesterdays loss.

It's fairly evident there were several issues.

    1) Ange made a mistake not having Kyogo through the middle, something I supported because Edouard isn't for the style Ange wants. Edouard was an impact player against AZ, but that didn't deserve him starting in the XI. Ange acknowledged that mistake so we would expect it does not happen again.

    2) In the Ange and McGregor interview a few days ago, Ange actually said they have not trained for several weeks because it has just been games and recovery. Not bringing in Ange quick enough in preseason with a settled squad means that even after a month since the League began, Cup competitions and Europe, the squad has actually had very little opportunity to gel and train together.

    3) Ange has said several times in recent times that we are WAY OFF the final product, and yesterday's game made that evident.

    4) Turnbull, Edouard and Christie never showed up. Abada should have never started, he's only 19 and I suspect if Forrest was fit then Abada probably would've been on the bench and come on later.

    5) Plain and simple, Edouard scores and the game would've been completely different (and people would be praising Ange).

    6) Ange made the subs far too late. Mind you, the subs did not impact the game, what impacted the game was moving Kyogo to the centre and not necessarily the addition of Soro or Rogic.

    7) It is clear how much depth we are lacking.

Rangers will definitely drop points this season. The fact they struggled to win at home against a team that's being thrown together as it comes along (like Juranovic's debut being in the Glasgow Derby away while playing out of position despite being in the door for 5 minutes) against their squad that has been put together over several windows and has "such depth that even the B team can win the league" shows they are far from what they are being made out to be.

Still confident we will win the league, especially once the squad is settled and actually training together, not just playing games even 3 days and then doing 2 days of recovery.

There’s no way of knowing for sure but Edouard done * all for the whole match and Turnbull had a shocker too. IMO taking those two off improve us, no matter who comes on.

We don’t have to complicate it. Sometimes players have poor games and in a 1-0 derby game you’ve got to get those guys off before it’s too late. We didn’t, we delayed, so we lost.

Open and shut case for me, we’d be best just accepting we * it and resolve not to do it again.

And that’s exactly why they are now miles ahead of us.

Postecoglou won’t be given the funds to build a team, just like Rodgers wasn’t. In fact, Postecoglou hasn’t even been allowed to build his own * backroom set up!

How many times do you see Sevco playing midfielders in defence, or midfielders up front? Even when ravished by Covid they still seem unfazed and just bring through their back ups.

Meanwhile, a single player of ours being out (Forrest) leads to the manager admitting that it threw all his plans up in the air and led to us playing a stupid system.

If the roles were reversed yesterday, Sevco would be out today getting in whatever Gerrard wanted - just as they did with Kent a few years back. Meanwhile, we appear to be messing about trying to get loans in.

Postecoglou will never be allowed to build a team, just as those before him weren’t.

Man, sure is some angry dude's this morning. Keep things in perspective, we only got beat by a hun team with half their 1st team players out with Covid. Was an all together concerted effort from us, ye know, like only takin 62 mins to have our 1st shot on target. Keep calm comrades, Lennon's no gonnae be reinstated ( ah * hope!!!)

I think it’s incredible, we need to bring in 2 or 3 more coaches, luckily there’s no transfer window for them so hopefully we can get them in during the season

He had an under-strength squad to begin with and a relative lack of activity hasn't really helped him.

I think there's been big, big progress. One thing that's really pleasing is how quickly we've seen a really clear style of play developing. I think it'll get us into trouble at some points this season, but at the same time I think this way of playing will win us a lot of games and score us a lot of goals. He'll stick to it no matter what so we just have to accept the odd bump in the road, I guess.

I like the way he speaks, and I like the early signs on the pitch. I think we'll get better, but recruitment is huge.

Funny thing is I actually think we could be ahead of rangers come the next time we play them, I think our style of play will make mince meat of alot of teams this season domestically and we are only going to get better the longer it goes on whereas with the huns I can see them struggling to score and break teams down consistently.
One thing that does worry me is the ability of our midfield to play 'angeball' when pressed by better teams, our midfield has been poor for the past 2 games when under pressure, McGregor was ok yesterday but turnball and Christie were miles off it.

He got some things wrong yesterday, but I dont think there is any need to panic.

When you look at it plainly, he has been working with the players just over 2 months, a manic 2 months. We have clearly made progress, qualified for europa beating a good AZ side, all the while he has been using the same core group of players, learning about the club and having to work with guys who dont know his style and who he is also probably having to teach at the same time (Kennedy, Strachan and co).

Quite frankly, I am amazed at what he has done so far, given the very obvious limitations that have been put on him. He hasn't even had a minute to sit down and assess the background situation, get his own scouting system set up etc. There is still SO much work to be done.

We dont ever like to lose to that lot but its far from done. They will drop points, we will too, but there is definite progress. Which is all I am asking from him.

Recruitment really is key though, particularly when looking for players who suit this system.

They hit their glass ceiling last season, they can’t improve on that given their lack of resources. The disparity between us and them last season was plain to see however yesterday’s game would have been a massive nudge to then that we’re back and this is all down to the job Ange has done since arriving. We’re only going to get better that’s a definite. We’ll be back on top in no time and they know it.

Kyogo should have been through the middle long before he was but apart from that I don’t think he done much wrong.

Midfield misfired, Eddy and Abada were poor and Kyogo was ineffective off the left. He couldn’t have foreseen that without owning a crystal ball.

Agree with everything here. I'm just really excited to see what we can do this season.

We'll have bad moments and concede soft goals this year and people will blame the fact we play out from the back or that we press high etc (John Hartson). But we lost goals and games last season looking absolutely aimless, so at least this year we'll know there is a plan and a defined way of playing. It'll cause issues at times, but we've already seen how building from the back and pressing from the front can create chances and goals.

The squad needs work, and I still think we'll be a bit short of quality when the window shuts but overall I'm pretty positive.

We've seen the damage a midfield trio of McGregor, Turnbull & Rogic can do against the weaker opponents on big pitches. Good to have Christie in there in tighter away games maybe? Could also play McCarthy (if/when fit) deeper and push McGregor up.
Defence is still weak(ish) but Juranovic looks good and let's see how Scales is. I quite like Montgomery, and we have Jullien back at some point, too.
Abada has started great but will be good to have Forrest back. Sounds like we're adding a striker and winger before the window shuts. Hopefully see more of Kyogo through the middle.
It would be a massive bonus getting Mikey Johnston fit regularly. The system seems perfect for a guy like him as it's all about getting the winger isolated vs a full-back. It's a big ask given his injury history but would love to see what he could do in this team.

Think that’s a pretty fair assessment to be honest.

What hurt our team selection yesterday was not having a proper left winger in order to allow Kyogo to play through the middle and/or not having another centre midfielder to allow Christie to play on the left. Ange wasn’t wrong with his assessment that a midfield three including both Turnbull and Rogic wouldn’t have worked. We have less than two days to add the quality to our squad that Ange needs.

There have been improvements, that can't be denied. However, it's all well and good beating the Dundees and St mirrens at home but other than az at home we've come up short in the big tests. I fear for us in the EL group.

There was nothing between the teams in the first half yesterday but their management clearly done or said something at half time while ours done nothing. They came out in the 2nd half, were right in our faces and we couldn't handle it.

There are positives to be had from the first few weeks but there is also much to be concerned about. As things stand, I don't think he can win us the league this season but much depends on what happens over the next couple of days.

I hate losing and especially to them but people need a reality check

they are 3 years ahead of us in development and beat us at home 1-0 with a goal from a corner

heigh ucking ho - it happens

yesterday I saw the majority of the team giving everything for the club - more than can be said of last year

edourd and Christie need to move on

Abada I think would have benefited from Kyogo playing centrally too.

this is something else that I think has been apparent for quite some time. We need a balance to the midfield. Mccarthy will be a ball winner for us and he will sit and allow mcgregor to play, but id still like us to add one more in there.
