Totally the same m8. Too many people were saying we would do them by all sorts of scores as the huns were either * or were weakened by the covid stuff or would be knackered after their long trip midweek etc however, it was the same old * we have seen over and over again. Ange will hopefully now realise that Kyogo is wasted out wide and that we are in urgent need of a new (tall) CH, LB, box to box midfielder and a natural left winger

lol the "let's talk about his jumper instead of tactics" mob have changed their tune. Those who were saying these two games wouldn't be important because we were great already. They are a massive indicator of where we are. We arent the finished product by far and tactically ange hopefully has learned this week he has to adapt quicker to the game.

All in all we edged the game on possession and open play but a draw probably would of been a fair result.

He was a 100% more pragmatic in his approach today. That for me deserves some form of credit for him. I before today was worried how open/naively he would approach tight games. We had our best defensive performance all season today. If we got it right in the final third we would have been 1/2 up at half time. Probably should have reacted a bit quicker but don't think he should have been making those changes people are suggesting before 50/55 min in the context of the game. If he whipped edoaurd after 25 mins and 5 mins later kyogo was carted off after getting injured. He will learn from today but for me people are looking at his mistakes (slow to change) rather than the positives he showed today. If players played to his plan and to their ability (edoaurd/ Christie/ Turnbull/ abada) game would have been very different.

Hmm not sure I fancied our chances of taking points off them in any of the matches last season. I hate saying it but they looked in control against us last season, today I felt like we were left short changed tbh

I feel we would've been more effective with Edouard and Furuhashi switched, bit of a weird decision to play Furuhashi through the middle every game then switch him so suddenly.

Think most of us were calling for Edouard to start in the middle, as he held the ball so well at Az when he came on.. Kyogo isn't a LW tho, much more effective through the middle.

The worry was the time it took to recognise it.

    This.

Ange should’ve changed it up before we went behind. He * up today, plain and simple.

    He cannot keep doing it.

You know what. Those annoying Ozzies have been right all along (no offence annoying Ozzies :50:).

It will be a bumpy ride but I actually think today shows Ange will stick to his vision of playing attacking football from the back. Unlike AZ I think playing out from the back, and along the back went OK. It was in the midfield and finding space in the forward areas we struggled today.

Lots of exciting times to come and we will get much better throughout this season and the players will learn and adapt to his system.

My only reservation is that it still feels like we are 2 or 3 signings off having the right squad so the next few days are perhaps key.

Don't agree for a second that he didn't recognise it. More he was reluctant to change due to lack of options

If you've ever seen Edouard's heat map from a range of games, he tends to naturally drift to the left hand side anyway, that's why I've always liked the idea of him on the left of a three, and why I was disappointed we didn't get to see him play alongside Dembele in Rodgers' third season. I kind of expected him to be on the bench today and was pleased when I saw the line up, and I assumed he'd be on the left. Shame he wasn't as I felt Furuhashi would've done better through the middle.

Said it before, but we lose too much with Kyogo going out wide left. His movement is far too good for him not to be playing through the middle. You seen it when he finally got put up top, which was far too late as it should have been 10 minutes into the second half.

The worry today is that it felt like Lennon was in charge again in terms of waiting until we went behind before changing it. It was clear as day that we had to change things early in the second half. Once again, we get done by a set piece as well. * sick to death of us being done by a simple ball into the box, it’s a shambles.

I think the biggest thing today though was that we shat ourselves in my opinion. We were wasteful with the ball and too many players just didn’t perform from an attacking point of view. Turnbull was a man short, Christie had too many slack touches and passes, Abada was non existent, Kyogo didn’t really have an impact until he went through the middle, and Edouard apart from missing a sitter didn’t offer much either.

I still think we can win the league though, that hun team is garbage, and that is all the players experienced the game now, so there is no excuses from now on.

He is being let down massively by the board, as was expected. You only need to look at what was on our bench. Apart from Rogic, there was nobody who could really come on and change the game.

Far further ahead than I had expected by this stage. No complaints yet.

Has to be said my expectations were seriously low, but he has blown them out of the water so far.

We wouldn't have needed to worry about Eddy's heat map affecting global warming today

I think some people are being harsh. We weren't great, but on another day we could've won that game.

I'm excited to see what Ange can do with some squad depth. There wasn't many changes he could make to the lineup today.
