Agree but we need to nip in. There's plenty of talent in Japan that European teams have been exploiting in recent times. We should definitely try to get in on the action with Ange's knowledge and contacts.

 

If we're still needing a LW in January (which I think we will) I really hope we go for Daizen Maeda, fast as * and only 24, good goal-scoring record too.

 

Sorry if ive missed it but ive seen a few mention raiding the J-league in January and not right now, why is that?

 

Ange said in his press conference that it’s a tricky time to sign players from the J-League. They’re halfway through their season so don’t want to lose their best players.

 

For the first couple of minutes of those highlights he genuinely looks like he’s playing a different game to be those around him. His pace is unreal. Ange will obviously know all about him but I would imagine there will be competition come January the rate he’s going at just now.

I do wonder if Ange’s comments about mid season, whether there may also have been an agreement in us taking Ange as manager that we wouldn’t approach any of their players until their season was done?

Reo Hatate of Kawasaki Frontale also looks a cracking versatile player capable at left back, left mid or centre mid. Gutted we never got/went for Tanaka as I think he looks a cracking player and would have fitted our new system well.

 

Yuki Soma played better than Hatate, at the Olympics.

 

I think there would definitely be an agreement of no raiding for players until the season is done. If anything they might also have a verbal agreement to a sale already, Japanese business is very respectful.

 

Fair enough mate I never seen any of the Olympic football. Although one of them is a left winger and the other more a left back or centre midfielder.

I see Soma’s deals up at the end of the year too, so maybe another worth a look? However Maeda is the one I would want from J league for that left wing/ striker option.

Bit dissappointed we haven't enquired about Bjorkan at Bodo/Glimt, sure he's only got 1 year left on his contract too.

17 year old left back. Just terminated his contract at Everton. Seemingly a few EPL teams after him.

 

It’s less than that his deals up at the end of this year. Him and Berg would be good signings from that team and I think suit Ange’s style.

 

He only just signed for them this summer for almost £7m from Liverpool. Not a chance we could afford him sadly.

 

We could do a lot worse than try and get Kabak from Schalke.

Apparently available for under £5m.

 

Been watching some clips of the J League.

Incredible value for money there. Financially, Kyogo is the 5th biggest sale. There isn't that much difference between the top five.

We have the man to raid it. I literally cannot wait for January's window.

As well as Maeda and Araki, I hope we're keeping tabs on Morishima. He looks class. Great pressing, vision and engine. Would challenge Rogic for a starting place.

I'm going to be disappointed when we don't sign all of these guys.
