Harry Brady said earlier on graham speirs podcast that the Greek has turned us down and has been stringing us along to get a better deal from his preferred destination. Time will tell if this is true.

 

In fairness, noone seems to be considering that in the new Brexit Britain that the Europeans see, maybe nipping next door to Germany seems more attractive than bringing his family to a country where they may all be made feel unwelcome... I mean, we all know Scotland isn't pro-Brexit, but maybe some of the European players don't see it that way

 

Complete nonsense. English Premier League is the #1 ambition for players from the continent ( as well as Madrid and Barca). EPL clubs in general cherry pick the talent from these smaller leagues / other European countries. They don't get knocked back due to fear of being made to feel unwelcome ...

 

They pay three times the transfer fees and wages for their ability to feel welcoming... Look, I'm not saying it is Brexit, but for every football reason we're head and shoulders over Werder Bremen and German 2nd Division. Just trying to think of any reason why he'd chose them over us, and consistently drawing a blank...

 

If he does come in I do feel a bit more positive about it after reading Bhoys Analytics piece on him. He sounds like a hard working player who has decent pace and strength to hold his own and drop deep to link play with other forwards and midfielders. He proved last year (I know it was only one year) but given the chances (which we are creating plenty off) he can score goals (and a lot of them).

We have plenty of creative players throughout our midfield and wide forwards, Juranovic too when he gets his chance sounds like he provides quality deliveries in to the box. He also presses hard from the front according to his stats which helps fit in with our system.

Like others I am pretty weary of him being another Eredivisie one season wonder but I think for the fee been quoted it could be worth going for him.

It was the being able to come off and link play and the defensive duels won that impressed me from the stats compared to the video I had watched. The way we are playing just now most of our chances are created inside the box and we have plenty of people to create them, so if Giakoumakis is capable of putting those chances away and offering another physical presence in the team whilst working hard I am all for bringing him in.

 

I don't think we'll get this guy and Nisbet. Not sure who I'd prefer.

 

Aye we'll create bundles for him to get on the end of in the box, where he's best. He'll also be an outlet for us to get up the park if need be and press from the front..

I know we can be a nightmare. But i feel that in this case its Venlo who are hoping that someone will come in and offer more. I think they hope on a bidding frenzy towards the end of the transfer period

I think it's more the player acting the bollix than Venlo by the sounds of it.. Lads in the last year of his contract playing in the 2nd tier of Dutch football, not sure Venlo are going to get more than what Celtic have apparently offered..
