For home games you could even move Turnbull back instead of McCarthy, or if Christie is still here, have him as the 8 as well, and have Kyogo in behind/floating, Henry/New striker/even Edouard up top.

I think that 3 behind the main striker should be given free reign just to roam.

The drop in finances to the conference league isnt that massive, but ideally a club like us SHOULD at the very least be in the europa league.

With it being a smaller competition this year the Europa should be interesting.

Either way I wasn't really expecting much in europe this year anyway. For once the full focus for me is the league. I always want us to compete and be in europe and I love a wee away day, but if we win the league this year its automatic UCL. Thats massive and could kill the Huns supposed 'rebirth'.

Given the players AZ have lost we shouldn't be fearing them here, in front of a packed CP we could take goals off them. One thing about Dutch sides is that they tend not to be water tight either, like ourselves.

For me. McCarthy on later in the game if we are winning by a couple, need to steady his game time to begin with.

I think we will concede unfortunately. However with away goals rule no longer in force it’s no as imperative to keep a clean sheet anymore. But we need to take at least a 2 goal advantage over there.
    I’m hopeful. 4-1.

Lads I have a flight booked from Belfast to Glasgow on Wednesday for the AZ game. Does anyone know if there are any restrictions involved in terms of covid tests etc. Thanks in advance.

I said this a few weeks ago and got absolutely mauled for it. Overall, Abada is our first choice, hence why he was not risked with his niggle and rested so he will be good to go for AZ.

No restrictions but the club are still asking you do a covid test and don't attend if it's positive. They do not check if you've had a test however.

I was watching the game last week on the czech channel, though because of the previous game going into extra time, they only switched over just at the start of the second half. I wonder if any NL channels will be screening it?

I get all that mate, I'm just optimistic about our chances of European silverware should we end up in the Conference League (which is possible by finishing 3rd in our EL group). So if we could do it that way, we'd be in for an interesting run. But the league is indeed the top priority.

Very good gauge of where we actually are this game on Wednesday is. A step up in quality but not big enough that it isn’t winnable.

Roma, Anderlecht, Feyenoord and Spurs are all playing in that competition on Thursday after a quick look at the fixtures. At the top end of both competitions are class sides, there’s just a few more of them in the Europa.

Prize money between the ECL and EL is negligible, but I think someone in another thread said the tv deal between both is a massive difference.

Definitely want Europa League football to prepare us for the CL next year if we can win the league.

Europa League is reduced to 32 from 48 teams in the groups this season. A more prestigious tournament this year.. would be great to qualify.

Well for sure we are anything but water tight at the back. It probably is a pretty 50-50 shot at this point with neither side really fully up and running. But I am with you that while obviously I want us to win and make the Europa League group stages the reality is the league is 100% the priority this season. Almost like the Alkmaar game is a free hit in a way but no question a win on Wednesday would be big for confidence and more momentum so hopefully we can keep this run going.

Same team as the weekend probably.

Hopefully Abada and Christie make it.

    It's not really that big

    Europa League Money

    €3.63m for qualifying
€3.30m Coefficient Ranking (we'd be around 7th highest in the Europa League)
€1.25m TV Money (As the huns will be there and we'd split it which is about €2.5m)

So we'd be guarenteed €8.1miliion/£6.9million. Then:€630k/£540k per win or €210k/£180k per draw

    Europa Conference League Money

    €2.94m for quaifying
€1.20m Coefficient Ranking (we'd be around 5th highest in it)
€800k TV Money (Just a guess it's 1/3rd of the Europa in total so probably something like that)

So we'd be guarenteed €4.94million/£4.2million. Then: €500k/£425k per win or €166k/£140k per draw

Not really much of a difference, probably about £2million given we'd be likely to get more points in the Conference.

TV Money actually went down compared to what you used to get, even in the CL im sure. I think we used to get about £14million, now you only get bout £7million but you do get bigger money up front so it's pretty similar in the end.

What's this conference, is it a new European tournament?

Some of their fans don't rate us at all and regarded Jablonec as an * outfit.

I'm still hoping it might be on BT. Do they not have the rights to all the play off games and there aren't any other British teams playing on Wednesday. Could be a late announcement?
