Think Ange is doing a superb job. The rebuild job he has on his hands to make us competitive in Europe again is mammoth but with a few additions I see no reason we can't win the league this season if we continue playing the way we have been. Loving Ange has such a strong view on how we should play.

Biggest worry is the depth of squad and the Édouard situation, as lack of interest in him appears to be the stumbling block for more signings. Does sound like Ange has been given commitments that more will be coming in though so maybe I'm reading too much into that.

So stop everyone talking about and * bagging Oz football. Unfortunately it’s all linked to Ange.

Ange done well to leave the dross behind and get his move to a real club at a decent level, you should be proud of him.

Still not the place to get into a heated and long winded discussion on the merits and pitfalls of Australian football. As @Marie said start an A League discussion in World football. You are more than entitled to discuss Ange and his contribution or past accolades in here that we may be unaware of in the A League but that doesn’t include spiralling away from the subject on hand. Ange and Celtic. :50:

Ange Postecoglou fits quite nicely if you sing it to the tune of Seven Nation Army.

I must say that I enjoyed the level of football played at state league level when I was a teenager compared with the mediocre standard of football being played today. The game may be faster but the quality of footballer in terms of skill has diminished. Players of the standard of Abonyi, Vojtek,Stankovic, Hammy McMeechan, Micic, Archie Campbell, Jimmy Armstrong,Kambouropoulos, Johnny Bedford and others do not seem to exist anymore . Young players are churned out in production line mode and any natural ability is sacrificed to the 'system'. You may not know the players I mentioned and that is understandable but you can look them up. They certainly left an impression on me. Include a young Mark Viduka in there as well even though we did not see enough of him here prior to him going to Croatia to play. I can not say the same of any players today in the ANL.

Celtic fans can relate also, if they reflect back to memorable players in the past that they have been lucky enough to watch play in Scotland.

Hammy McMeechan is from A: The Hotspur football comic. (70s). B: Totally made up. C: The most Australian football name I’ve ever heard. :39: :giggle1:

Just because Maclaren has been scoring goals does not make him the best player in the league. The press always love to run a story that works in their favour. If it wasn't for team players supplying Maclaren with great passes he would not be getting that many goals, even though he has improved his ability to get into the right spaces to score since he came back from Hibs. Personally he disappoints me with the amount of goals he misses and his lack of grafting on the pitch. Does not stand out in the national team either. I do not rate him as a good footballer as I would the work rate of Jamie Vardy in the same position.Clinical finishers rarely do not put the ball in the net.
