We should have listened to Izzy when he was talking up Alberth Elis, I still don’t know why we didn’t bring him in for £1m when we had the chance to especially since we
Had previously had a bid rejected and now he’s valued at £8.5m after a decent season in Portugal.

Would be happy with that, especially if the price is £1 million, gives Soro proper competition and means we can loan out Robertson and Connell.

I definitely think we need another CM.

Would rather someone like Berg from Bodo-Glimt.

If we go for another CM I think it’s more likely to be someone like Mooy.

I'd be over the moon with Mooy think it would finish off the midfield perfectly and have plenty options off the bench to change it up or play more defensive Soro Shaw as more Central/defensive mids Rogic more attacking mid and the main starting 3 of McGregor Mooy Turnbull

I'd rather we sign defenders than midfielders. Our central midfield is the only area we are strong on. Spend time and resources on the bits that matter first.

We will sign defenders, and definitely more of a priority, but I certainly wouldn't look at our midfield and say its strong.

I think we need more options. Rogic we have no idea how he will do.

Ntcham will leave. Christie could too. Outside of that main 3 of Soro, Mcg and Turnbull you only really have youth options.

Thats very * dangerous. For me we need 3 mids. A strong holder (maybe the Honduran guy), box to box type (Mooy) and a flexible number 10 with a bit of pace and guile.

    So in mid we have

Mcgregor, Soro, Turnbull, Rogic, Shaw, Henderson, Robertson, Connel, Biton if you put him back to his preferred.

Yes Christie, ntcham are likely to go that's why I've not counted there. Even without them that's our strongest position, aye it would be nice to have more but we are more covered there than anywhere there's already 2 in each key DM soro/Shaw, CM Mcgregor/henderson/Robertson Am Turnbull/Rogic aye some are youth but compare that to elsewhere and its the strongest we have, Id live to say go sign 3 more but that's not realistic. The youth need a chance to come in, in 14 when calmac made the breakthrough the mid was Johansen, Commons, Brown, Biton (plus Armstrong in Jan) otherwise there was Liam Henderson, mulgrew who was on the way out so it was largely at a similar level of experience (a bit more established though) and then the youth made it up and in

RB Ralston (and O'Connor maybe) I'd be hesitant to call either even a 2nd pick
CB Julian (injured) Starfelt, Welsh, Murray, Hjelde
2x established in Julian and Starfelt, Welsh who is half established and 2x youth that both look good.
GK no good. Reliable pick at all
LB 1x youth and 2 that are questionable
Striker Ajeti (yet to prove himself) Griff(is Griff) Eddie will be away, new boys are typically wingers not out and out but kyogo looks like * be a good one and has played centrally a fair bit

And just to add in, in 19 (ignoring last year's fiasco)

    The core was
    Brown
    Ntcham
    Mcgregor
    Christie
    Rogic

So 1 DM, 2CM, 2 attacking and then we didn't really have more youth.

Aye that's a stronger group by experience but so far, Shaw looks more than competent from his appearances in preseason. Henderson is solid enough, Robertson is in a similar position as calmac was when he got the not to join the team fully, Connel, * knows he should be ready to play don't know why we're not seeing him.

Don't get me wrong though, this is not a hill I'm fighting to die on, I just think we need far better elsewhere first. Stronger fullbacks will allow the youth in mid to get away with more as there will be better players around them, same with good CB's a good goalie is what wins trophies amd strikers are key to making goals but with what we have in a flexible 3 it's less critical just now than the back

I'll agree to disagree because when i look at that midfield i literally only see 2 proven players. Turnbull and McGregor. The former is only 21.

We can't continually rely on mcgregor for 60 games a season either.

If we go into this season with that midfield only, I'll be really concerned.

Calmac was puffing oot his * about the 70 minute mark, I’m not saying this was a bad thing but I’ve always said he’s the fittest player in our squad. If he’s blowing like a steamer you know how intense the teams working, you’ll no last 90mins for 60 games a season at that intensity. We need cover in that position, for rest and risk of injury.

Seen we might be snooping around Pipa from Huddersfield, mentioned on their forum, waiting to see if we get past this round of the qualifying.

I'm worried that this "waiting to get past qualifying" rounds has appeared a couple times now.

Worried, but not surprised. Reeks of zero ambition. There's a reason why we can't get past rounds...because we don't * buy the right quality at the right time.

Not seen the link/rumour but I believe it. After reading that we are waiting on the outcome of this qualifier.
