I know you're joking, but it's something that find people bring up a lot. Wingers don't need to rely on height. In fact, having a low centre of gravity is a good thing. Modern or historical comparison James Forrest is 5'7, which is the same as Patsy Gallagher, Davie Hamilton was 5'6, Adam McLean was 5'5 & wee Jinky was 5'4. Dembele is 5'6 & Johnston is 5'7, which is right on par with any of these.

What matters far more than size when it comes to wingers, is skill and what they can do with the ball, and that is how they should be measured against, not their height.

Getting back on topic though, any word on Dembele? Is this looking like a long term?

While I agree with the general gist of your point, comparing height with historical players doesn't really make sense as the average height of the population has increased a fair bit since their day. Meaning the players they are up against will, in most cases, be a fair bit bigger than what the older players were facing, which creates a bigger disparity.

But, with that being said, body strength is a lot more important than height in my opinion, especially for wingers.

Hopefully Dembele is ok and fit for next week. I think we are going to need him as we looked pretty toothless in the second half yesterday.

 

Talking about next week. Is it on tv? Or we stuck with celtic tv again?

Karamoko has the ability to run rings around SPL defenders, and this season our aim must be to win the league, European success is highly unlikely. In the few games he has played ive yet to see him have a bad performance.

I hope we're looking into a new contract with the lad, even a 2 year deal would be good.
