I think there was a bigger issue back then…. In that the Lisbon Lions got so few caps between them…

Jinky - 22 caps or something … for a player with 9 consecutive league medals and a european cup to his name…

Scotland has always had its own unique forms of racism.

Yup downhill from here, They will never have all their games at Wembley again and all the Euro teams were quite weak tbh. They'll be stronger next time.

Racists have always been here and always will be,but it's obvious why they've been the focus in the aftermath of England losing the final - when they don't even deserve to be acknowledged.

    Well done Italy, incredible team.

Totally agree. The SFA consisted of the same Masonic hun loving dinosaurs as it does today and really begrudged giving our players a cap. I actually stopped going to internationals following the treatment wee Jinky got as soon as he got a touch of the ball. It's strange to think that the vast majority of hun fans supported Scotland back then and only began their love in of engerlund when they signed the likes of wife beater gascoine and Butcher etc. together with their growing resentment of Scottish nationalism

Didn’t know if your 19 you shouldn’t be allowed to take a pen. Making such a deal about who shoulda taken a penalty and who shouldn’t. It’s a lottery, get over it.

As for the racist abuse of the players that missed its shocking but sadly not surprising. Needing to show proof of ID before opening a social media account is a good idea but that doesn’t solve why they are racist in the first place.

    Yep..

    France in-fighting
Germany on the decline and Low basically just seeing his time out

Both of those will be back..

Spain showing signs they aren't far away..

Very favourable draw and at home bar one game in Rome against a pitifully poor Ukraine..

Think it is beneficial for young people growing up to see racism has no place in any form in society but I don’t think it’s possible to re-educate the knuckle draggers we already have in society. These people are morons whose minds won’t be changed by taking the knee or show racism the red card. It’s deep rooted in them sadly. I’m not saying we don’t have them amongst our own support but the huns and England fans seem to be a hot bed for the scum.

The problem is that young people are brainwashed from an early age, they are brought up with it, usually passed on thru generations of their family, we see it here with sectarianism.

Sometimes even education is not enough, it's what goes on behind closed doors that can affect a young person for the rest of their life, also the company they keep.

    100% agree.

Honestly believe wholeheartedly that whatever "sins" people have be it racism, bigotry, homophobia or sectarianism starts and is nurtured in the family home by parents and extended family.

The "blame it on the schools" brigade used this narrative to hide their own filthy beliefs and opinions.

The fact that France, Portugal, Belgium and Italy were all on the other side of the draw and that Germany on their side were the weakest they have been in a long long time plus home advantage all played a big role.
