What was wrong with that comment? Not really rocket science to expect an incoming manager to know and ask what is available to him surely? If he hasn't he shouldn't be in the job.

I'd expect Ange has asked that but unfortunately there are details and then there are the details of the details.

Did he not research board history?

Long time lurker, first time poster here. I have been a big fan of Ange and followed his managerial career to date. (Yes I am an Aussie). Realistically, Celtic finishing 2nd in the league will be the best case scenario this season. I am pretty sure he would be aware he is already on borrowed time at Celtic and he will probably be looking at using them as a foot in the door to another club in UK/Europe where he will have full support to clean out the squad, bring in new players/back room staff, $ to spend and time to develop his squad. I would love if this happened at Celtic but I personally don’t think Ange is the long term solution for the club. I have no idea if he would even get another shot at another club if this season goes to crap. I am looking forward to the ride though.

Jesus, you really don't have much faith in him as a manager if finishing second in a two horse race is the best case scenario...

People on this forum have actually replied to this and basically said, "* him, he should've asked if we'd be signing players".

    What's the matter with people?

    Sorry, I beg to differ.

The very least Ange should've had, before signing up, was the boards commitment. Stevie Wonder could see the scale of the rebuilding needed. Why even consider taking the job, if you're not 100% sure you will get the backing required? Or did he take job, taking for granted that he would be backed?

    Must watch for all.

The beginning part with Paul Keating was his famous speech in Parliament against the Liberal Party (Australia's equivalent of the Tories) who want to keep Australia locked into the British Empire.

I'm with you mate. * him for taking a job in good faith and assuming common competency would be applied.

In all seriousness though, he's no doubt had some sort of conversation about backing, but it's naive to pretend it's something you can nail down in some conversations during the hiring process.

The board will have said he would be backed from the off and now they'll be dragging their heels because they lack the competence to get deals done.

Even if somehow they didn't talk about their plans for building the club over the summer (I'd love to hear peoples theories about what they did talk about instead..?), Ange absolutely has the right to expect the club to buy the type of quality needed for the upcoming challenges. If the board sold all the players tomorrow and told him to use the youth team, would that be Ange's fault too for not asking if they would be selling every player?

How anyone can entertain the notion of blaming Ange for 'not asking' and not instead blame the board for appalling management with our money, is beyond me I'm afraid.

Feel sorry for Ange as he's not the name we all wanted initially and tho we all appear to like the guy he will be judged upon results.

At his press conference a couple of weeks ago he admitted he was in dire need of some players and we have still done * all about it.

I say it every year. Getting a player in the day before a big game is no use. These boys need time to settle in and get to know one another. Big Jullien sitting on Bench vs Romanian mob a couple of years ago sums it up. He wasn't fit enough for the game. If he had of been in earlier and fit enough would we have lost the 3 goals? I don't think so.

Absolutely disgusting way the board treats the fans. And sadly the manager carries the can for it

    Spot on.

As a support we let it slide every year. A bit of anger, then a win against Kilmarnock at home and the anger subsides, rinse and repeat next year.

It's "the system" now, and you're mental if you speak against it.

What's to say he didn't have the boards commitment? Could well be the board doing what they do best, backtracking on agreements and promises.

Of course we will probably never actual find this out

I'd never heard of Ange before. But from what I've seen and heard, he's some kind of modern legend in Australia. And this move to Celtic is viewed by some as a historical landmark moment in their footballing history.

Chances are this wasn't a move that Ange could turn down regardless of the conditions. Like, he's taken the job without even bringing in any of his backroom staff.

He's most likely gambling that he can make a success out of it in his first season and improve his bargaining position.

Surly he would have conditions in his contract specific to him signing on for the job. M

I fully believe in his interview, he will have been strong on the points of bringing through our own talent and rebuilding from within mainly , music to our boards ears , but if ready made talent is not there then he must be given the tools to do his job , the fact that its taken them this long already to bring in anyone ready to hit the ground shows how * we are at recruitment and puts massive pressure on the manager when they are meant to be helping him .

Finishing second is the worst case scenario.

I really don't think some of the new bhoys get the sheer pressure and demands of this club.

And that's not us being unrealistic.
We literally are expected to win every season, in not doing so, it's a deemed a failure.

Going by what Dom openly spoke about during the pressers the other week, with Ange openly agreeing and confirming back to Dom, they've promised each other to back and build.

Less than two weeks to our first major game and nothing has happened to back up those claims of supporting Ange.

Feel sorry for him already and we haven't played a competitive game.

Transfer wise we are a disgrace.
