I wouldn't disagree with that, but why do we have to continue to accomodate the guy, what next does he try his hand at being the tea lady and if he canny rattle up a brew he goes back to his old job as a coach ? :84:

It can never be a healthy situation when you are keeping someone in a job for the wrong reasons, if he's such a fantastic coach he'd already be at another club as manager don't you think ?

I can understand that some people are happy to be in the back-ground and don't want the limelight, there's been plenty of great coaches over the years who never made the transition to management, nowt wrong with that as long as they're making a valuable contribution to the overall set up, i just don't really know what JK actually does, nothing personal against the guy.

I see it more as a dig at Lennon similar to when Mcgregor said about the manager taking responsibility

People want to read anything into that would make it possible that he’s not rated as a coach.

Proof is in the pudding, he was assistant to a side that made the same mistakes (mostly defensive) for an entire season. He then was in complete charge and not a single thing changed.

My guess is he’s just a sound guy that gets on with people and that’s why his stock is artificially high. If he’s that great a coach he should go and prove it somewhere as his own man.

Also part of a coaching setup that won 12 trophies in a row under different managers and the players appreciate him.

People can try to explain that away however they want but really, he’s here still and people should just shut the * up about it now and get on with it.

Ange seems happy with him, the players are happy with him, he’s been part of very successful teams before and one failure - being loyal to Celtic isn’t a fault.

It could be that he is a good coach.

Comments like this will mean it's still up for debate, and how good he actually is we might never know. I personally don't think he's anything special, evidenced by his abysmal performance in the hot seat last season, lack of forward planning and the way he couldn't sort our set piece defending last year.

Either way, I doubt he's irreplaceable.

The problem with Kennedy is he is too close to the board. He owes everything to them and seemingly has a job for life, which means he will do what they say. If things go well enough for long enough he'll get the manager's job. If the relationship between the manager and the board goes south over time, Kennedy will need to back the board.

It's a bad situation to be in. We all saw what cronyism and nepotism has done to the club.

If he would leave and build a reputation for himself, I would be more trusting of him coming back since he wouldn't 100% depend on the board's good graces.

Honestly, I highly doubt he has a relationship with Dom McKay.

Being loyal to the Celtic board is, however.

I didn't see a huge amount of loyalty to the support last season when the fences went up. All forgotten very quickly.

OK lads so has Ajer been bribed heavily, or is someone holding him at gunpoint? Can't possibly be he said something nice about a coach who helped him develop and meant it.

Has it ever been the case that a coaching staff have remained in place in their roles with a new manager after a catastrophe like we had last season? At any club in the world?

We know from Lennon that Desmond is on the phone twice a week, giving "advice" (I think that was the term he used). You only really need to have a relationship with him.

He's too close to a board that encroaches on the management too much, that's what makes people nervous about him.

It's very easy to be loyal to somewhere you have a job for life and a good chance at the manager's job one day.

We're not asking for something as dramatic as a sacrificial lamb. The club has a huge problem with cronyism and nepotism and removing coaches when management changes over is a common practice. Kennedy himself perpetuated that problem by playing the likes of Brown in dead rubber games when he should've been getting Soro etc. ready for these qualifiers.

I don't know why people make out he'd be hard done by if we let him go.
