Yes most clubs do sign players for the future but most clubs don't take nearly four months to appoint managers and don't let the actual first team deteriorate to the bare bones..

That's not hard to grasp nor is it mental gymnastics..

Waiting on Howe for so long was a mistake and the board rightly got pelters for that at the time.

Whether someone is out of their depth or not is always an opinion.. it goes without saying. Not sure what you were expecting.

How about we give them understanding when they tell us who’s identifying and recruiting players? Does it not bother you that there’s zero transparency on the recruitment structure and nothing being said to address the monumental failures of the past? Just wait and see what happens?

    I suppose it’s a definition thing.

I mean, forward planning to me is replacing players in good time so we’re ready for our challenges. Obviously this is something we rarely do, and certainly haven’t done this season. Signing players for the development squad obviously isn’t in that category, it’s more of a speculation on potential talent than any sort of coherent forward plan.

Fundamentally we seem to agree the planning is absolutely abysmal though?

I wouldn’t have thought he’d be overly bothered about who wants away. Seems it’s obvious who they are and he’s just consider them already away and not bother much.

Haven’t I read he’s got previous for large turnovers when he first arrives?

Is it possible something else is bothering him? Unexpected bullshit and incompetence from above possibly?

    Yes, but at his instigation.

He's always dealt with smaller (usually salary capped or NT selected) squads where most wanted to be there.

He's never been in this situ before where agents and players are playing their games to get better deals elsewhere. How can he pick a team with confidence when he's not even sure if the players want in?

I have confidence in him to work that out though. Needs to move on (or at least isolate) those without a hoopy future.

If I was Ange I would cut to the chase. I would have one eye on the Japan Olympics teams to identify the good players in that event that can be brought to Celtic in the near future. I would also, and for a good price, go for players I have dealt with before and know can do the job I need done. Either from Japan or the experienced established fullbacks from the Australian national team. Thus avoiding this confusion going on at present.

I can not understand how the Board does not want success for the club. Support the manager, provide the necessary funds for the players required, and give the supporters a positive view of the present situation of the club going forward. Why do they want to create obstacles for themselves and be continually derided for their actions ?

I'm not saying that you're right or wrong, but I do feel like that's what you expect so that's why you're seeing it where there's no definite evidence of it.

It's OK having confidence but he needs to have a plan and get moving. We are all aware that he inherited a pile of crap and I don't think any reasonable person expects this to be turned around overnight.

I'm worried about him keeping JK/GS - either he's accepted that from the board (although I doubt it) or he thinks he can turn them around - again I doubt that and think he could end up wasting precious time.

I think Europe is too much of an ask (given the short time period he's had) and I expect us to be behind Rangers at the end of the year.

I don't expect 5 transfers a week but we need to see some activity both in and out - he has known that he'd be taking this job for 6 or 7 weeks so surely he has identified some targets.

Ajer has openly said he wants out and, after yesterday, Edouard + Christie are surplus to requirements IMO.

IMO if Ange wants to be here next year - the fans need to be very optimistic about 22/23 season by Feb/March - even if we end this season empty handed.

I'm not too worried about a couple of friendlies - I am worried about Ange waiting until the end of the year to decide to make changes in the back room or playing staff.

I want Ange to succeed and I don't think I have unrealistic expectations for this season. However, if he wants to convince the fans that he is the man - he needs to get a shift on.

How deflated will this place be if we go another week with a proper signing.

It’s now blatantly obvious that the Eddie Howe appointment fell apart as he was limited in the staff members he could take with him.

What is not as obvious is the lack of assurances over the transfer and wage budget, and how the relevant transfer targets would be scouted and subsequently obtained. But in my opinion it almost certainly was a factor.

Before anyone jumps on me and says that’s in the past and get behind Angelos, I’m 100% behind the big fella, I like him and think he would do well if he was backed properly.

I think he’s working under considerable restrictions and I think it’s important to consider that we were without a manager for over 100 days and ask ourselves why that is the case.

No respected club/business/whatever, would go so long without appointing an appropriate candidate, in a field in which incidentally there are plenty of talented candidates unemployed, unless the recruitment process placed non negotiable conditions on those who were considered/applied/who’s CV was papped in a drawer etc.

Before any one says anything. Keep in mind there were a few Socceroo players who had good careers in the SPL.

Heldje can definitely do a job against the SPL dross but I don't think he is ready for European action

Their ultimate aim is to provide dividends to the wealthy shareholders.

They earn bonuses based on the net profit on the balance sheet.

Therefore they hope we qualify for the Champions League, which we have been sensationally pathetic at doing in the last decade, and if and when we fail to do so they ensure the profit with player sales.

It suits their interests and those of their partners to ensure that our rivals in Govan are as competitive as possible so that we can be aligned for joint sponsorship, TV deals etc.

No one on the board has any connection with your average season ticket holder.

The board believe, as do unfortunately a considerable percentage of our supporters, that domestic success is sufficient for a club of our size.

let’s see how he does against the championship sides. If he performs as well as he did against the League One sides (yes I know they’re friendly matches etc), then I’m sure he can take on the Danes. If we advance further in Europe, then yes we definitely need options.
