Nobody is suggesting we make rushed signings and bring in quantity over quality.

Every person connected to the club has known for months that a massive rebuild was required this summer. There's absolutely no excuse not have brought in a couple of first team quality players by this point. None.

Your first point, what do you mean? Ange is meeting all the players for the first time. If McGregor can understand his philosophy in this pre-season then so can new signings. Had Vuskovic signed 10 days ago he'd have had the training camp in Wales and the 4 or 5 friendly matches before the CL qualifier. Plenty of prep.

As has been said already, it's a lowering of expectations. We should not be going into a CL qualifier with the likes of Ralston, Bitton and Welsh in the back 4.

    1. How do you know this?

    2. How do you know they're not supporting him? I'd guess he'd not issue an ultimatum because he's not going to make knee * life changing decisions after 4 weeks in a new job.

Totally disagree, there's no evidence he isn't being backed already.

Okay - maybe it’s not enough time for that game. So what? If we don’t make moves quickly we won’t be prepared for the next challenge after that, or even after that.

We’ve needed a RB for months and a LB for years. Can we please stop acting like this is a shocking revelation? If we sign a RB and a LB tomorrow it wouldn’t be rushed, it would be very very late.

If we sign bad players then ‘rushed’ won’t be an excuse. Rushed is when you get an injury near deadline day or sell a player unexpectedly at the last minute and need a replacement.

Sitting needing players for months and not signing anyone is the opposite of rushing. They can’t possibly be still in the process of identifying LB and RB. If they are then they’re right to get pelters.

Shaw was signed before Ange and the other lad looks nowhere near first team ready. Both signed for less than 500k.. you call that backed?

Still a new signing, still forward planning for whichever new manager we had. Larsson cost 750k, Nakamura about £1m. Scheidt was £5m. Klimala was £3.5m. Price doesn't always indicate how good a transfer will be.

I'm sure you're aware that a lot of players and agents hold off from committing early in the window too, because they want to see if a better offer comes in.

    1. It’s my opinion based on how * up our board is and what Ange probably reasonably expected when he took the job. I doubt the sold the job as an over-bearing board controlled *. Any manager would be out of his depth. Even Rodgers couldn’t deal with them.

    2. Because they’re not supporting him with decent players and staff.

You’re actually right what you’re saying. Ange is in a difficult position having moved across the world and leaving the job would be a huge decision for him. Some might say the board have him right where they need him. Thank Christ our board don’t have previous for being * to our managers and imposing players and staff, eh?

We’ve been told Ange isn’t a yes man and takes no *. If we don’t get moving soon then he’s taking *, which is why I would expect him to call out their bullshit pretty soon.

What do you call signing a player for the future, if not forward planning? Folk will do crazy mental gymnastics to suit their point of view at times. I'm not saying they do enough of it or that they even get it right when they do, but signing players with a view to being a player for the future is absolutely forward planning.

Seriously do you want me to go through the amount of players we have signed as "future planning" that ended up total dross.. players they have signed without our manager even knowing who they are..

I'm doing mental gymnastics.. ? I want first team * players signed not this continued "planning for the future"bullshit..

Defending our board is a strange hill to die in..

Where is your evidence that "Rodgers tried hard to bring him when he left" - all I have ever seen is supporters of Kennedy make that claim. I'm not talking about anecdotal BS i.e. "everybody knows" etc etc I mean real evidence that he tried to do it.

I may be wrong - I'm just saying that I have never seen anything from Leicester or Rodgers about him trying to bring Kennedy to Leicester.

Personally - if this had happened, I believe Kennedy would have gone when it was clear that Celtic were bringing in Neil Lennon rather than giving Kennedy the job even on an interim basis.

Aye we’re forward planning really well as we sit here with Bitton as our main CB, Ralston as our only RB. Taylor and Bolingoli still as our LBs 2 years after we knew they weren’t the answer and Ajer publicly saying he’s leaving.

Last season our current assistant manager played a now Aberdeen player and 3 loanees rather than promote players that are actually going to be here this season in dead rubber games. Of course we’ve kept that guy in his role.

But aye, we signed a player for the development squad when we didn’t have a manager so we’re really on top of the old forward planning.

I find it weird people are all of a sudden expecting two new guys to suddenly sort of the absolute * of a mess they’ve left behind so quickly.

Years and years of mismanagement isn’t going to go away in a couple of weeks.

    Ok. Nothing substantial then.

    Remains to be seen, mate.
Totally understand the need for urgency in the transfer market, but it takes two to tango. Getting a player takes so much effort for most clubs. So much that can go wrong or cause talks to break down. There needs to be a level of understanding.

Every club in football signs players for the future that don't work out, it's not unique to Celtic. That doesn't mean that the club doesn't plan for the future though.

    Yeah, you appear to be.

I'm not defending the board, I'm just being less myopic in my views.

Where did I say it was going well? I just stated that signing a player for the future is forward planning, which it is.

Ange is notoriously surly with the media and doesn't give much away.

However, he did seem a little deflated. Haven't seen the match but reading all the comments here it's not hard to guess that Ange is seeing the size of the task when players aren't interested. I've suspected all along the biggest learning curve will be dealing with the shenanigans of players and their agents when they want away - desperately need at least three players out almost more than we need three players in.
