IMHO he is well above the level of both those teams already. Nothing that says he has to go to an epl team anyway. He is well capable of playing in any of the rich 5 leagues for a team at least in mid table.

That says more about the stupidity of the transfer prices in the epl then it does about the quality of player.

The top five Europe leagues do not have the mega money TV deal that England have & have suffered financially from the empty stadiums.
Time will tell as to wether Ajer can play at a higher level or not. Personally I watch a lot of EPL & would like to see him in England so I can follow him.

I wouldn't be surprised if a club came in and turned Ajer into a Declan Rice holding midfielder.

I just don't want a Boyata situation where we turn down 10 million and let a good player go without even a sell on clause.

I agree. I think he is a natural DM !!
I would love to see a club give him a run in that position. He could be worth 40 mil as a top DM.
I think most club insist on a sell on clause being included in the the sale these days.
But let's be honest, you just don't know with Celtic.

Nathan Ake was part of a Bouremouth team that got relegated and moved to the champions for £50m.

Norwich won't submit a fresh bid for Kristoffer Ajer as Celtic's £15m valuation is too steep, according to a report.

The Canaries had been tracking Ajer for months and it is believed they submitted a bid of £10m plus potential add-ons.

But it's claimed by Norwich podcast Pink Unthat this is their ceiling and they won't return with an improved offer if Celtic don't accept it.

They will instead focus on other targets while giving Grant Hanley, Ben Gibson and Christoph Zimmermann the chance to cement first-team spots in the Premier League.

We aren't going to get £15 million for him this summer, as much as I like him he's only got 1 year left on his contract.

Hopefully this isn't another Boyata situation.

    Take the money ffs.

We should be cashing in on players who don't want to be here.

Get him sold & use the money to buy players. The longer it drags on, the less he is worth.

Yeah, also the last thing we want is unhappy players still at the club.

I agree. He has been a model professional since joining the club but I'm sure he's a bit * off right now that things are moving slowly. You don't need a * off player at training camp !!!

Alternatively, the more teams are willing to spend because the window of opportunity is closing in on them improving their team. I want it sorted pronto but it is something that happens.

It's a bit of a catch 22 isn't it ? If the price is too high clubs look elsewhere but then as time runs down panic sets it and panic buys happen ! If the club has money in the bank & don't need the sale to finance the next purchase then they can hold out for a better deal.
For me the sooner the deal gets done the better it is !!

Agreed the epl has the most money no question but the rich 5 leagues are all just that, rich compared to the money clubs like us can pay and Ajer is well capable of playing in any of those leagues for a team at least in mid table right now. Personally I could care less where he goes as long as we get at least 15m and have a decent sell on clause if he turns out to make it big.

According to TV 2, Celtic are demanding around 20 million pounds, 239 million Norwegian kroner, to release the Norwegian midfielder in this transfer window.

Clubs such as Norwich, Brentford and Bayer Leverkusen are said to have placed bids for the 23-year-old, but no one wants to pay what Celtic demands.

As TV 2 understands it, the bids must have been over ten million pounds. The latest bid - from Brentford - is said to have been for twelve million pounds, in addition to Celtic being able to get another three million pounds in
    various bonuses.

As of today, all clubs have withdrawn from the negotiations - and at the moment everything indicates that Kristoffer Ajer will thus remain in Celtic.

TV 2 has not succeeded in getting in touch with Ajer himself on Saturday.

    Have wished away
Nevertheless, there has been no doubt about what Ajer has wanted. During the previous national team gathering, he took the magazine from his mouth, and said straight out that he wanted to move on from Celtic.

    - I think it is important for my development that I get to a higher level. I have never felt that I have evolved away from Celtic. Celtic is a huge club that requires you to be at your best all the time. But I want to see how far I can get myself, and then I think I have to play in a better league. I have trained really hard every single day and have come where I have come because I have trained most of all. Now I want to see how far I can get, and then I think it is important to play in a top five league, Ajer said in an interview with TV 2.

The Norwegian further said that Celtic had promised him to cooperate around a transition in this window.

The promise was that I would be allowed to travel last summer, but then we agreed that I would stay in the club because we would try to win ten in a row. It was important for the club, but unfortunately we did not make it. Now we have come to the point that I will leave the club, and I really expect the board to keep its word, said Kristoffer Ajer.

Now it indicates that Ajer must prepare for a new year in Scottish football. In that case, he will be able to leave Celtic for free next summer.
