In fairness to bayo there is plenty in the squad last two years I'd seriously question their attitude but he was certainly not one of the them. Hope he gets a decent move, we get some money back and move thread

Belgian league is quickly becoming a dumping ground for Celtic rejects.

Today, the 24-year-old striker Ivorian striker Vakoun Bayo (10/01/1997) signed a contract with KAA Gent until 2025. Bayo comes from the Scottish Celtic Glasgow and was loaned to the French Toulouse FC last season, where Brecht Dejaegere and Deiver Machado also played.

"Vakoun is a fast and agile striker who is very strong offensively. He is a player who will offer our coach many opportunities up front." Sports Manager Tim Matthys

Bayo started his career at Stade Abidjan in his native Ivory Coast. In the 2014-2015 season, he became the league's top scorer and was also voted best player. He then left for the Tunisian Étoile du Sahel. The next stage was Dunashka Streda in Slovakia (2017-2019). There he scored 22 goals in 32 games and provided 9 assists. Figures with which he convinced Celtic Glasgow that brought him to Scotland in the winter mercato of 2019. Last season he went on loan to Toulouse FC, where he scored 13 goals and 4 assists in 36 games.

    Welcome to the Buffalo's Vakoun!

Good luck to him. Had hoped he'd stay and get a chance but obviously not.

CELTIC have offloaded flop striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo for £1.4 million to Belgian top flight side Gent.

The Ivory Coast frontman pulled out of his country’s Olympic squad to complete his move to the Buffalos, subject to a medical and visa approval.

And the 24-year-old’s Parkhead exit now means the club has banked a stunning £18 million from player sales since January.

Contrastingly, they've so far spent just £400,000 on development fees for ex-Sheffield Wednesday duo Liam Shaw and Osaze Urhoghide but with a £4million move for Rubin Kazan's Carl Starfelt on the cards.

SunSport understands Gent have scouted Bayo – who cost £1.8 million from Slovakian side Dunajska Streda on a four year contract in January, 2019 – since the start of the year.

They are about to cash in Ukrainian attacker Roman Yaremchuk for a whopping £25million on the back of his impressive Euro 2020 performances and so were anxious to move quick to snap up the frozen out Hoops man ahead of French side Toulouse.

Bayo spent last season with the Ligue 2 outfit and impressed enough that they were keen to take him again on another season-long move.

But Toulouse couldn’t meet Celtic’s asking price for a permanent deal – and Gent have swooped.

Brendan Rodgers signing Bayo managed just four goals in 17 appearances for Celtic and never looked like he would fit in.

The funds will boost Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou’s transfer kitty.

Also moved on since the start of the year have been Jeremie Frimpong – an initial £11 million from Bayer Leverjusen - Hatem Elhamed, Patryk Klimala and Jack Hendry.

The impact of losing Bayo is a drop in the ocean.

Our squad is too big and bloated with players like Bayo.

Aye, sure are bloated in the striker department. If you trust the Celtic board to go out and bring in 2 or 3 then fair enough. One less striker means more chance of Christie playing upfront.

If we are serious about the League this season then we need proper quality in the door, cheap prospects won't cut the mustard, money has to be spent.

Enjoy watching midfielders being shoehorned in there :s:We'll be lucky to sign a defender or two at this rate, no chance of any decent strikers.

I'd rather have a prospect than * all, which we currently have. Ajeti will be our only striker once Eddy * off.

Problem with that approach is that we typically can't just buy one, unlike the Huns, as our player will get kicked up and down and injured or carded more frequently, while theirs will receive every protection under the sun.

Agree with the principal though. We should be building a squad where we don't buy players with a value of less than £5M (not saying that is what we should pay, but their understood valuation) and we should be rebuffing any offer for our good players that's less than 8 figure values.

That's the way for us to progress, and maybe 5/10 years from now we're looking at nothing but £10M+ signings and £20M+ fees for ours, as well as consistent European campaigns
