I think the real frustration for us fans is we are 3 months behind the loop, we should have had our manager in and preparations almost completed by now but unfortunately the Howe saga pushed us to a point that makes life difficult at best. The only people to blame are the board, not Dom as he wasn’t in the chair but DD,PL and the idiot Chairman Bankier (although he’s probably just a figurehead wheeled out on special occasions)

the frustration is that we had such a horrendous season last year not to be on point this year is negligent at best. We need to see the ambition that matches our own I’m not talking spend for spend sake but make the purchases or at least communicate your ambition to us we don’t need names we need to know your on the case and it’s happening.

That is fair but not really what I was getting at.

The point I think myself and others are making is that if you aren't aware, celtic fans have had issues with this board and our current set up for years.

I get that Postecoglu is an Australian legend I really do and its evident from the way you lot speak about him and in the way he speaks that the guy is talented. I've already said I'm behind him and that for me he gets at least 1 years grace and chance to do what he wants as the task he has at hand is immense.

However, you will have to acknowledge that we as fans have just came out of a * traumatic season where we absolutely * a chance at serious history and were embarrassed by our biggest rivals, finishing 25 points behind and being reminded of it on a daily basis almost in Scotland, at work, online, wherever. So this isn't just a normal period of takeover and change for us. It is crucial we get this right.

Thats why I asked how long you have followed celtic, as coming into this year from last season there is a lot of tension around the support and i think that is coming across in this thread and in my opinion in some cases is justified.

Now that Postecoglu is here everyone Will be behind him but there is no denying he isn't what most celtic fans were expecting. I know, before you say "just wait" etc I know, but at a club like Celtic "just wait" will only last so long. Fans were definitely expecting someone with more experience on this continent, whether you want to call that euro snobbery or whatever I don't know. Personally I just think we expected a reaction from the board (* knows why) which would show some serious ambition. For most celtic fans AP is the cheap option...and I can see that way of thinking as i believe it to be true as well.

AP could turn into the best thing since sliced bread but the fact remains that he definitely wasn't our first choice and the celtic board dillied about for 3.5 months appointing someone when all the fans wanted was some leadership and ambition to be shown. To many, his appointment is just another example of the celtic board tightening the strings.

I suppose the point of what im saying is there is a lot of tension and uncertainty around the club right now, and any Aussies on here who have recently started following us I would say that it's not necessarily meant to be directed at AP, more at those above him and purely because we as fans who want him to do well, will fear he is treated the same way as many before him.

Only judge me on what I post, not other Aussies. I have always humbled myself and said I won't pretend to have been a big supporter of Celtic FC. I've been to some Celtic games, as I've written about before in this thread, and have always been sympathetic to Celtic for my own personal political reasons (Irish reunification, Palestine etc), but no, I will not pretend I was a big supporter or followed the club closely. Just a passing interest.

Fair play and as I say I'm not digging you out on it, just trying to give some background as to the tensions in this thread and around the club atm.

What I find humorous is everyone whinging that it’s the same old * that’s gone on for year after year.
Unfortunately that same old * brought you a fair bit of success on the domestic front. I mean last season would have been 10 on the trot!
As a newbie here is the whinging as vociferous this season as last?
And the seasons before, with BR, did you all complain about the board.
    These are serious questions.
If you wipe last year, the board is probably of the thinking that we’ve done alright for the past decade so not much needs to change.
This is where Ange is up against it but also relishes the challenge. And I have the feeling Dom is cut from a similar cloth.
Unfortunately the board seems to have been lulled in to a false sense of security because of the strength of the comp, well lack there of.

I wanted the ten - very much - but it's only a number.

Nine in a row is still some serious * history.

    If you're missing a finger...

For sure, and to be honest, I am more then thrilled to be on the Celtic bandwagon. I lost all interest in Australian football many years ago.

I might be a Panathinaikos "supporter" (three leaf clover instead of four!), but I really have no interest in Greek football as it is dog * and super corrupt.

I have not been this excited for football in many many years, and of course I have 140+ years of history to catch up on, particularly the events of last season, but I am super enthusiastic to fully immerse myself into the club, and soon buy merchandise.

Combining my love for football with no real interest in a particular club for many years + Ange + the general political leanings of Celtic, I am unbelievably excited for the season to begin, despite the existing problems and disadvantages.

Yes there has been questions asked of the board throughout the period. Questions were asked over the appointment of Ronny. Rodgers then left as the board wouldn't match his ambtion and sign Castagne, Pinucci and Justin but instead signed players essentially behind his back in Shved. There was then questions asked of Neil Lennon being given the job full time in the showers at Hampden when the CEO boasted he had basically discarded other candidates CV's in a drawer. That's before even going in to more specifics in terms of money wasted on players and forcing backroom staff on managers for some weird reason. Could also add on top of it the failure to read the room on numerous occasions in regards to the support

The issue we have at boardroom level is they were always happy to be a nose ahead of Rangers instead of being the absolute best we could be.

The most concrete example I can think of is the boards attitude towards the Champions League qualifiers pretty much each season going back to Lennon's first stint in charge.

These games are crucial yet we could provide copious examples of going into games completely unprepared.

Guys like Muyukoulo starting against Shaktar, never seen again. Christie up front because we had no striker. Janko against Maccabi. Nir Bitton getting a run out each year in the qualifiers because we never seem to have 2 CB's going into a season. I'm sure others can remember many more examples of this. Never changes.

The board were never prepared to invest to get into the Champions league. The years that we did qualify, some money was then invested. Its that gamble that leaves us in a mess each summer until the window closes because the Board didn't have to spend much to win the league.

With the huns back, perhaps the attitude will change. But here we are with probably Ralston starting next week?

They would have known for a while regarding El Hamed and rumours of Frimpong leaving came before the new year. They went for a loan, that if went well would have cost £10m (Evertons asking price last season). They could have gotten someone in but they chose not to. It was purposefully short sited.

Im afraid its only a number doesn't cut it for the vast majority, particularly if you're living in Scotland.

We now have to live with knowing it was stopped by them and with them having been literally on their knees only 9 years previous.

Thats not good enough and I could type for days about why not.

How do you think the huns felt about those nine years?

I'd be confident they'd not have enjoyed them.

Nor will they enjoy the next nine (or ten).

Fair enough but calling unhappy fans roasters when theyve every right to be unhappy at the direction the clubs heading is harsh....unless you didnt write that of course !!

No I stand by that, some people on here are absolutely roasters that don't post when we're winning, they go away for long periods of time then only come out of the woodwork when we drop points to proclaim the sky is falling, only happy when they've got somethign to greet about, even during the treble winning seasons.

Just seems the issues at the club dwarf unhappy fans venting on a fan forum tbh , winning does temper fans displeasure even if some are genuinely unhappy at how the club was/is being run !!

You can be annoyed at multiple things. I’m furious with the way the clubs been run and also * off with a lot of entitled fans.
