Not at Celtic imo. The Celtic CEO is just a branch manager who reports directly to Desmond. All Celtic targets have to be run by him first, and he tells them who to go for, how much to offer etc.

Talking to Dominic McKay about Celtic transfers is like asking the manager of your local McDonald's to bring back the Big Tasty. He'll flash you his best car dealer smile and give you a line like "we're working on it", but the truth is the final decision is out of his hands and there's very little he can do to influence it.

    Sorry, but that's bullshit.

Rodgers got Davies because manager's pick their own assistant and coaching staff. It's common sense and common practice. It practically goes without saying.

We can sit and pretend it isn't to make ourselves feel better, but that's all we would be doing. Better thing to do is just call it as it is.

As I said, this board has previous and it was a disaster, yet for some reason people are just okay with it happening again. Bizarre.

Young players bought in. That’s the start. If the senior pros don’t, they get shifted aside, see the grumpy * sitting on his own yesterday.

I don't know how true that is but I certainly wouldn't argue against it.

This is why many of us, including me, will often say 'The Board' instead of McKay or CEO. The fact is it's not clear exactly what the setup is above the manager. For the sake of discussion, I don't think it matters. Whoever it is shouldn't be picking players or staff, not least because of the lack of transparency you rightly point out.

I won't pretend to know what's really going on, though I do think there is a little too much reading into the interview (but I expect there is some level of frustration).

Surely the best way to convince the board to buy into his decisions/strategy is to demonstrate that it works. If he can get good results for what he already has then I expect they'll start to come around, I just hope that it's not too late by then.

Jesus mate, they've already hired him mate, if they still need convincing before they back him then that's absolutely * wild.

The way this club operates, the last thing he wants to do is win to convince them to spend.

I'll go back to it again the reason Rodgers left is because we wouldn't sign his targets in Castagne, Pinucci and Justin 2 of whom he has since signed for Leicester now if they wont buy in to Rodgers after winning 2 trebles and champions league qualification then Ange has no chance. On top of that we're lead to believe this guy was on our radar for sometime so the board should be fully aware of what he would want.

Yet again the main frustration lies with the board but what is just as annoying is the amount of people who started following Celtic about 6 weeks ago coming on and telling us how much better things were going to be when the majority of us could see through it for exactly what it was and is apparently proving to be. I said as soon as the appointment was made the fact he never brought his own backroom team in with him when appointed told me all I needed to know he can give as many interviews saying Kennedy is on trial and the like but for me it's just not true he will remain here in some capacity be it coach/assistant or colts manager

What you have to admire is that there seems to be more people on the forums that know more than the club of who they’re selling, who they’re signing and what’s going on.

Sadly I think 99% of these are completely invented in posters heads, then spouted on here. Just because ‘you think’ doesn’t mean ‘it’s happening’. You get enough trash from the MSM then coming on to read all the * folk are dreaming up is even worse.

Don't want to start a new thread but it's fairly obvious that going into the qualifier we will have to go with what we have. If we assune 4-2-3-1 would this be good enough?

Just on Ralston has it ever been confirmed by the club that he has had a contract extension or is it just the fact he is still here?

The year is 2045, and Anthony Ralston has just been given another one year extension despite playing just 9 matches in over two decades.

Everybody in the last few pages losing one over what Tony Rallis said and media are lapping it up.

Tony is loving it because as a players agent his name for the first time is now all over of some of the biggest sporting outlets in the UK.

This might also seem a bit mundane for you non-Aussies, but Tony is from Sydney and Ange is from Melbourne. They come from different footballing circles, especially within the Greek-Australian community, and Ange hasn't even had an Australian agent in a number of years. I'd be taking what he said with a big grain of salt the self-promoting *.

You’ll get used to this sort of tripe, journos, ex-players etc just trying to pretend to be in the know, where in truth it’s guesswork and trying to grab attention.

The point still stands though that Ange hasn't brought anyone at all in. Our board have a history of forcing staff upon him that's why such a big deal has been made about it

To be fair, Rallis stating a sentence with “My understanding” tells me that he knows sweet * all.

It’s a caveat - or a trick - used by journalists and the like.
