Aye there's a lack of actual new songs. It's all generic European tunes with insert your clubs name here.

Aye and after every goal or that it'll be the same one's..

Makes our support just another club where it stood out with the regular tunes..

    Wouldn't be so annoying if it wasn't the same one's 67 time's during 90 minute's..

That Lustig/Atomic Kitten song was dreadful. Now Engerlund are using it which makes it even worse.

Zlatan excepted, has any Swedish person ever said anything interesting?

Even Abba just wanted to sing about accepting your limitations, which is the subtext to their best song - Waterloo.

Songs and add ons about the Pope make me cringe.

Completely agree, and will add my own controversial take as well:

I’ve seen decades of Tory rule, directly resulting in thousands dying from poverty; I’ve lived through New Labour literally killing British weapons experts it didn’t like, Donald Trump being elected, and subsequently caging immigrant children, and all sorts of corruption of varying scales and in differing contexts…

…and yet, still, the use of the words ‘Celtic Boys Club was a separate entity’ remains one of the worst, most neglectful, most personally galling institutional misdeeds I have ever witnessed. One of the few things I have been ashamed of the club for.

And John Reid is still the best Celtic chairman in my lifetime.

@Garrymac1888 I agree 100%. Dunno if I'd say that's an unpopular opinion though. One that a lot may no like to talk about but one I think most agree with..

Whenever I came up or abroad or that I'd always be dying for the atmosphere in the thick of it. My old man and uncle would always take us to quiet bar's out the way. Used to drive me mental..

Maybe I'm morphing in to those miserable killjoy * :giggle1::old:

Naw mate, I totally agree. I’ve never liked the whole ‘Celtic Symphony’ thing: like being at Mass on eccies.

Not against call-and-response type chants in general, but at least do it with some sort of imagination and actual good songs.

Full stadium gives it a better feel, but the actual chants in it are mostly still painful (the ‘Paradise’ excerpt aside).

I’ve mates who support other sides (not the Huns) who totally rip us for the ‘pop goes the weasel’ bit, and I can’t slag them back because I totally agree. It’s ridiculous sounding. :56:

    That is certainly controversial.

For me John Reid symbolised everything wrong with modern Celtic PLC.

A war criminal draped in the butcher's apron - the beginning of the annual right-wing jingoism in November when we were expected to honour British imperialism.

The statement he released after the Green Brigade's legitimate banner was one of the most reprehensible ever released by the club.

But if you can look past that, he certainly did fight the club's corner when it came to the SFA, the Huns and Scottish football generally. I remember him practically telling Murray to STFU over the Famine Song, calling it racist and saying he'd continue to point it out whether Murray liked it or not.

Thought he did well during the referee issue too, telling reporters we wouldn't sit at the back of the bus and being generally contemptuous of any kind of Hunnishness from the media.

He had an arrogance, authority and nastiness about him. Everyone was * scared of him.

I suppose I would like someone like that again, but just not with his politics.

Agree. He had an ‘attack dog’ kind of mentality that served us well sometimes, but you can’t really divorce that from his Establishmentarian mindset.

On a European night packed it literally takes my breath away hearing it rippling round the stadium. Nothing like what it sounds like on the telly atall.
