CELTIC ace Leigh Griffiths is being probed by the club and cops over claims he bombarded a girl of 15 with inappropriate messages.

The striker has left the Hoops' training camp as Parkhead bosses investigate.


Details of chat between the pair’s social media accounts were shared online yesterday.

It’s not known if dad-of-five Griffiths knew of the schoolgirl’s age.

In one message the 30-year-old Hoops star calls the girl “ya cutie”


He also sends the teenager a camera emoji to which she replies “what do you mean x”

Griffiths then replies: “Have a think to it n get back to me x”

The brief chat was posted online prompting it to go viral.

And Celtic have confirmed that they are investigating the claims.

A spokesperson said: “We have been made aware of online comments concerning Leigh Griffiths. The Club will now look into this matter carefully.



“Leigh has left the Club’s training camp as we do this.

“It would not be appropriate to make any further comment at this time.”


A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We have been made aware of social media content. We are making enquiries and assessing for criminality.”




Last night, the girl wrote on Instagram: “I’m sure a lot of you have seen what’s going on, Leigh Griffiths didn’t ask my age, therefore he wasn’t capable of knowing.



“In no way does this make it right, but anyway Hail Hail.

“No way am I sticking up for him I genuinely feel sorry for his wife and children.

And yes I did reply because I’m a Celtic fan Obviously I felt privileged that he had messaged me my age was never mentioned and I’m sure if he knew he wouldn’t have replied.”

 

Hopefully we can rip his contract up without paying him

The club will be looking at ways to sack him without paying him anything. I imagine the players won't want him around.

 

Total lost cause. And now due to our custodians ineptitude at recruitment for the umpteenth consecutive year we're stuck with this clown for 12 more months.

For those of us still deflated at how far we fell last season, this is a * dreadful start at easing our fears.

What an ambassador for our club, New manager in the door and first serious thing he has to deal with is griffiths thinking more aboot his hole than our club, I don't give a * if he didn't know her age the guy is a liability simple as that get him out enough is enough.

 

I think we need to temper the language a bit on this subject until the club have investigated. It doesn't look good for him as far as the club are concerned, but I doubt the police will find any criminality in the messages.

 

He literally sanctioned the deal. After 3/4 conversations with the guy.

He was off training on his own as he feared he would have to get a new club. Celtic weren’t committing to anything until they had a manager in place. It was clear it would be the new manager’s decision.

Ange arrived, spoke with him several times. Went on record about the conversations and why he Griffiths got a new deal. He very much sanctioned it.

As I said at the time, there shouldn’t have been a decision for Ange to make. The club should have made the call based on everything that had gone before. Obviously the guy was going to swear blind to Ange about his commitment levels, his fitness levels and his attitude in general. He was ill advised by those within the club
