Barkas is surely a decent keeper if we spent that much money on him, seemed he was before he joined us..Yes he was poor last season but the absolute * state of the 10 players in front of him can't of helped and a clueless manager thrown in.

Another one I'm happy to be given a chance if Ange can get him back on form. But we definitely need another keeper because the other two are not good enough even for back up

 

Probably but he showed his self to be far too flaky..

We need a number 1 in. Barkas can then battle it out and maybe come good for us..

Too big a risk relying on him as of now though..

 

I think a lot of us are falling into that sort of "absence makes the heart grow fonder" type of thinking and forget just how bad Barkas was in goals for us. The GK position is one of the most important in any team (just look at how many times * saved the huns last season) and we can't go into the new season with a bomb scare of a keeper.

 

Pretty sure Ryan has some awful stats.

Like worst save percentage in the league and absolutely dreadful with long range shots. Loves a howler as well.

 

Brighton, why he got dropped for that Sanchez.

 

He was actually decent at Arsenal, the fans(not sure about management but there was talk of offering him a contract and it only went quiet when he was linked to a starting gig with Celtic) wanted him to stay.

Funny you say that. If we get George Baldock from Sheffield Utd you will find a distant connection there as well. His grandmother is Greek.

 

Correct. Worst feeling for your defenders especially when you are busting a gut and your keeper is * and letting in soft goals. A good keeper pulling off saves, having a safe pair of hands, commanding his box and martialling his defense, just instills confidence in the whole team. The keeper is trusted, lifts the whole side and steadies the ship.

 

And likewise, a solid defence lifts the morale of a GK.

Barkas will be no.1 this coming season, and will shut a helluva lot of people up…

 

There was also talk of Asmir Begovic as possible keeper candidate.

 

I would put up my hand for Lawrence Thomas as keeper also. Playing in Denmark at present.

 

If Barkas does indeed get the gig and does well, then I will be the first to hold my hands up to say I was wrong. We all have our own opinions on players etc. and that's why most of us come on here to debate matters with fellow supporters in a (hopefully) healthy manner

The pressure visibly got to him last year and that was with no fan's..

 

That wasn’t a dig at anybody btw, more like Barkas’s performances (I predict) will shut a lot of people up - myself included.
